As long as you are keeping your desktop or laptop this tablet will allow you do the things you listed and will allow you to get used to android devices.   This tablet will NOT replace a laptop or desktop.  This is not a speedy tablet.  As long as you just want to use this while sitting on the couch or to take it with you it should be fine.  I do not use this tablet, I have a Samsung and an LG.
