Do You Still Sell Vionic Shoes?

It probably would spoil without refrigeration, but what a great time to share with your neighbors if you have too much. If they’re not as prepared as you, they’d appreciate the offer and you’d have someone to commiserate with about the power loss or whatever you’re enduring.

We were so prone to electrical outages that most of my neighbors had generators, I am surprised that HSN is not selling them.  I was afraid of them, so just made sure that I had tons of candles and firewood.  I am also surprised that HSN is not selling camping grill kits.  

During the winter, after a few days, foods could go outside to keep frozen.  Roads would usually be closed from downed branches.  My next door neighbor was a competition barbecuer and had some great rigs and would share.

Growing up in Houston, Tx, we always had hurricanes and tropical storms.  I lived through Carla, a cat 5 hurricane, we barbecued in the hall bathroom with a small grill on the toilet next to the window.  My aunt and uncle were there from France due to a work assingment for my uncle.  My mom insisted they stay at our house during the storm (house was steel frame and brick), after the storm we went to the apartment my aunt and uncle had been staying, they were on the 2nd floor, the complex now was a flattened one story.

During Claudia, we were flooded, I had to take a canoe to the 7-11 store that actually was above water and had a working payphone to call to let people know that we were ok.

People get through these things. But I am surprised that HSN claims that this is their disaster recovery effort, yet aren’t selling anything that can really help people with things that they can’t already find in their pantry.

Myra you’ve been through a lot so I know you can understand being prepared.  I agree with you, HSN was calling this their emergency preparedness show but they only had Wise stuff.  I did get the fruits and the protein packages. You are definitely right in the dead of winter,  Mother Nature is the best refrigerator.  Lol

When I was stationed in Germany we used to use our upper floor windowsills for a refrigerator. :smileyhappy: I haven’t lived threw any disasters yet but with the way things are now,  you can only be as prepared as possible and stay prayed up. Today was the 1st of September and it reached 94 degrees here.  It’s supposed to be in the 90’s for the rest of the week. So see nothing is predictable any longer . That’s why we have to live each day to the fullest and be thankful for every day we see.:womanhappy:  Be sweet,  it will all work itself out.  I am just happy to have met a wonderful group of ladies. There is some good with this new technology after all. :womanhappy:

Hi Myra, I too would like to see HSN sell other items to prepare for disaster. I live in the valley of a hilly area and we loose power a lot during the winter. I have a land line phone, need to get a new gas log fire place as this has saved me many a winter. Also, I need large lanterns. I have extra blankets canned goods, lots of packets of food that you just mix with water. Our winters are getting more severe each year. Last year we had a very bad snow, then it rained, then it went down to -8 which left everything icy. I was home bound for a week. When these storms hit there is no electricity and no computer, or cell phone, tv. Thus I have a land line to call if need be.

Last year Xmas Eve, my power went out later Xmas day the power came on but my cell and the tv did not come back up. Called Verizon and there was something wrong with the towers, whatever. Thank goodness I had my dvr so that the triplets could watch movies. They were driving me up the wall because they couldn’t drive anywhere, text, or play their games. Needless to say, I do try to be prepared ad you learn how to improvise. Like you said outdoors when it is cold makes a great frig, or you can always grill.
