Hi, Suze,
I wish I was more knowledgable about annuities. They can be so confusing and I wonder if they’re really all that great. I’ve heard both good and bad about them. How can I choose a good one? Or should I avoid them altogether? My husband has two annuities and both are doing poorly. They were recommended by the bank’s financial advisor. He has lost a lot of his retirement money as a result.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

investing money confidently and wisely so that there is only gain and not loss. also, choosing a trusted, reputable and superior financial advisor. last year, my family and i had a horrendous experience with a bank designated financial advisor who lied to us. his lies cost my father and mother, who are both retired seniors on a strict budget, A LOT OF LOSS. a local attorney was recommended to us. unfortunately, he was not skilled in finances and bailed- just like this bank designated advisor of ours who fired himself and went into hiding. i even thought about contacting suze for advice but i chose not to bother her in her retirement. if she still had her CNBC show on saturday nights, of which me and my parents were solid and true, loyal devotees, i would have done it. either way, my family and i love you suze!!! and, as you always say, let’s remember- “it’s money, then people, then things- now you stay safe!!!” love it. oh, sigh.. xoxo

I wish I was better at not procrastinating. I keep putting off taking steps to protect assets. It’s not just really old people who end up in nursing homes, and anyone can end up in one at any age, even if they don’t want to be there.

Budgeting my check:)
This is very important:)
Thank you for asking Suze:)
Peace and love:)

Not buying stuff..I tend to not pass up a bargain even if its something I don’t really need.I am not in debt but I could surely save more if I didn’t spend so freely.

Having more confidence in my decisions, which begins with being better educated and informed. I want to set-up a self directed 401k, but I let myself get overwhelmed with all the crazy info out there that I have ended up doing nothing….

Keeping them.
Sigh,

Why are you against financial adviser’s from a bank? I have two fixed annuities and two IRA’s that are placed in conservative accounts. I do not want to be in the stock market as it is too unreliable and volatile. I make modest returns on the IRA’s and have lost very little. I make a guaranteed amount on the annuities. I will not be needing the income from these accounts for several years but they will be there when I do need them and must use them.

I wish I understood my retirement accounts and stocks better than I do. I have a lot of trust in our financial advisers and rather oblivious of our investments. I know that is a no-no. I really need to understand the process better and educate myself on our investments. I feel very vulnerable.

What’s the best way to keep track? A spread sheet? Quickbooks? I would like a better over all look at our household accounts?

I wish I was better at convincing my husband to get your financial kit and get us a will. We’re both on medicare, and we are not prepared. We are not making it financially, and recently my husband started using the credit cards and now we cannot pay them off (around $3,000). We even had to use them for food. Our health is not good enough really to work, and I’m terrified. He also doesn’t have life insurance, and I would be in a bad way without him. It really scares me so much! He also has diabetes and he can’t get life insurance. I wouldn’t even have enough money to bury him, if he died.
