Bearpaws experience?
Gentle posters,
I have never owned Uggs but always felt like I’d love to try them. I do own a nice pair of shearling/suede house slippers. So now seeing as Bearpaw is going to be the TS, I am tempted. I found a site that reviews all Ugg-like boots and it seems Bearpaws are all right; but they still do not have any arch support… Anybody has any experience with them? I also wonder if they are particularly slippery in winter.
Price is so much better than Uggs.

Hi Massha,
I have Uggs and EMU which I love. I bought a couple pairs of Bearpaw last year. If I remember correctly, it was one of their Black Friday hourly deals. The price was too good to pass up. I do like them, but I think they run small in the height of the foot area. Kind of a weird design in the ankle bend, which bothered me over time. Just like most of them, no arch support. I think Bearpaw are slippery, but I am walking on snow and ice. With all of them, you can’t beat the warmth. The brand I love the most is sold on the Q called Lamo. They are inexpensive and a TSV is coming up. I bought two pairs a couple years ago, again I couldn’t pass up the deal. Out of all my brands, I love them the most and they cost the least. My others end up with water and salt marks. My Lamo are water resistant and maybe even waterproof. I can’t remember, but my feet never got wet. I had to spray all the others with waterproof spray. I am not trying to send you elsewhere, I am just sharing my honest opinion. I am the queen of shearling/suede slippers and boots. LOL. FYI- out of my two expensive brands, I like the EMU better. However, they only lasted a season because of the salt and water marks. Very expensive season. Hope this helps.

I was wondering about these as well…thanks for the insights.

They don’t have arch support at all. I bought a pair on Amazon last winter for the sole purpose of wearing around the house in the winter. I ordered my regular size and it fits fine but I wear thick socks in the winter months too inside these boots. My extremeties are always super cold because of a medication I take so…..I suffer, LOL. I have worn them outdoors for a quick in and out of the car and out doors around my home, but never really out too far. That’s just because I didn’t buy them for that purpose. I also did wear them around the house in the summer, until I realized it was summer. I say this, because they didn’t make my feet hot in the summer. Wool/shearling is moisture wicking.

Bearpaws are good boots. They are the same as uggs. I spray them with waterproofing for boots, and they are good to go. They are quite comfortable. I have had mine for 2 years. They have kept my feet warm in -25 F. , and colder.
I had no trouble with slipping on the snow outside, but they are a little slippery on wet floors , like when you walk into a store when there is a lot of snow outside, and its all melted and wet past the mat…

Thanks for asking this Massha, I was wondering too. I do have 3 pairs of Uggs that I love. One pair is 10 years old and still going strong. Uggs foot beds are replaecable which I love. I have never actually worn out the footbed in my boots,I just think it’s a good idea to switch them out for sanitary reasons. Since they are natural and breathable I never have any odor issues and they are so darn comfortable.
The main reason I keep choosing Uggs over the others is because they offer styles in regular leather as well as suede. To me the leather suit my fashion taste better and dont scream Uggs. In fact most people do not know that they are Uggs as they are used to the suede look, which to me is a bit casual looking, in the genre of Birkenstocks.
I also think the regular leather is more durable. It can rain quite a bit where I live and I don’t have a garage so it can be wet and muddy just getting to my car. I have worn them in rain and snow w/out traction issues, but I have not spent much snow time in them. I have hiked mountains in these many times and kicked aroiund in the city in them.
I bought Ugg slippers last year, the open back style as was dissapointed that the heels wore down very fast and the footbed is not easy to replace in that style, so I would not reccomend this style. The closed back does have the replaceable footbed which I would get nest time. But these are suede and the other brands may be just as great.
But back to the boots, one pair is a riding boot and they are gorgeous and warm zip up style. They are 4 years old, but this style is not being offered right now.
I have some very nice boots and booties and shooties….but I’ve had severe joint issues in my toes and now a bunion, and my feet sing in my Uggs. I wish some of the competitor brands would make more fashion forward styles in leather as opposed to suede.

My Ugg-style boots are a half size larger so I can put an arch support insole into them – problem solved!

Hello, I have been wearing Bearpaws for 10 years. There is no Arch Support! They have change the Quailty, that they were years ago. I used to wear 1 pair to walk my dog with legging in all kinds of Weather. They used to have a Sturdy,Very Thick, Almost Sheep Fur inside them, and lasted forever. Did I mention I leave Rural. So when I saw them last year on HSN, I ordered 2 pairs. I noticed Right away that after walking my dog, for a few weeks, I could feel the little Squares under the Fur. That was when I compared my old ones with the new ones. I did Keep them, I still wear The Black Ones to walk my dog, they may make it threw one more Mild Winter?? I keep the Gray ones in house to keep feet warm, or run to store in leggings, only. As I am Trying to make them last. They are Adorable, but the Quality has changed. Great if you use them as I do the Gray Ones, to keep feet warm, they are very soft inside. I have never had a Problem with them being Slippery, but am no longer buying Bearpaws due to the Changes. So I Really can’t speak to that anymore. And have never seen or wore the Todays Special. Sad as I Used To Luv Them….Best Of Luck I hope this Helps a bit 🙂

Got my Bearpaws today. I don’t know about walking in them, but sitting in them is so amazing I do not think I will ever want to take them off. I now wish I ordered two pairs, one for home one for outside. They feel way too tight but sitting is very comfortable. I don’t think I will be exchanging them.
HSN next time you offer these, please get more colors.

This is an honest experience in Bearpaws…I have severe RA with very defformed feet..even with surgery…my toes roll over each other..Boots and shoes are impossible…until…I found Bearpaws…i live in N Mich…snow belt..I have several pairs..comfortable and I can walk in them…the Uggs are just too heavy…for people with foot issues..Bearpaws and Ryka shoes are the only answer…

Received my Bearpaws today. They are beautiful and very comfortable on; however, I should have sized up. I ordered my regular size 9 but they are too short in the toe box. I hate to send them back but I would not be able to walk in them. The next size up is sold out in my color. I will try again next year and know to order a larger size.
