Racist Remark by Philips AirFryer Guest
I tuned into Marlo’s 1pm (PST) show “Kitchen Essentials” today (7/31/16) just in time to catch a racist remark made by her guest. The guest, ( I don’t recall her name) while promoting the Philips AirFryer with Rapid Air Technology and Recipe Booklet, stated to Marlo, “I know you like fried chicken.” The guest was a White woman.
This lady is a guest on Marlo’s show. Was it (a feeling of) entitlement or superiority that made her so comfortable she felt should make such a presumptious, discriminatory remark?
Marlo was gracious and never dignified the comment. She is a professional, and recovered very fast however there was a moment when you could see in her face that she was affected.
There is a 7-second delay. Why do you think HSN didn’t delete the comment?

Huh? Seriously?
I think everyone loves fried chicken? Although, fried foods are bad for health reasons.
Pass the bucket!

I love to make fried chicken-buttermilk,spices,etc.I sometimes think people are really getting carried away! I worked in a multi cultrual neighborhood, and remember just people watching, seeing a rabbi, amuslim, whites, blacks, latino, asians and thought this is a wonderful thing! Don’t be petty and look for the worst-look at everyone, enjoy and embrace diversity-we learn from all cultures! HAPPY LABOR DAY,REMEMBER WHAT IT STANDS FOR!
 -
OP, you said you tuned in just in time. That tells me you didn’t hear the whole conversation. IMO, it was ignorant to assume that was a racist comment. Some posters like to stir up things.

I agree with the comment below. She has presented these air fryer’s before and I’m sure she said she enjoyed good fried chicken. I love fried chicken and I am a very pale Jewish woman, what does that mean? LOL
-
i think that because marlo has been employed at hsn for so very long, it is quite possible that the airfryer guest has presented with marlo before. i take the comment to be a favorable remark. marlo must have told her at some point that she loved fried chicken and the airfryer guest was probably so proud to be able to offer a product for sale that, in her opinion, cooked “fried” chicken to perfection WITHOUT OILS and ONLY USING “AIR”!!! again, i don’t think the guest meant any ill-will. i’m so sorry if you believe she did. perhaps you can try the product for yourself and see if her propaganda is true. there’s nothing like a verified purchase review to communicate candid aforethought. all the best to you, my friend. sigh.. xoxo

Amen… I totally Agree…. We should all stop walking on eggshells…afraid we will be labeled racists…

OMG! You’re obviously one of those people to just sits and waits for someone to say anything that you can call racist. I agree, I think I know who is the racist here. Lighten up and start enjoying life. Drop the intolerance.

What an absurd observation. Perhaps it is racist to make such implications about Marlo and the guest? After all, most everybody likes fried chicken. Further, it’s a big part of southern cuisine as well as soul food. Heck, I’m a Yankee and it’s perhaps my second favorite food, right after lasagna.

I am blonde blue eyed caucasion and I do love me some fried chicken .
Bo Jangles is yummy to my tummy.
I also can make some great chicken wings for our Carolina Panthers football games .
What is racist about saying someone likes fried chicken ?
People who dissect everything just to find fault ….. now who really is the racist?
-
I can’t believe what I was reading. Mostly everyone loves fried chicken. White black, purple, green etc.Everything is about race to some people who is the racist here? I have already figured it out.
-
Oh, my gosh. This is a ridiculous interpretation of a benign statement.
You can always find trouble if you are looking for it.
You must need to go to your safe space!

WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE INTERPETED AS BEING RACIST??? Please stop this madness and start to embrace the good that God has meant for our lives. Why conjure things that are not even remotely there, really??!!! This is beyond unacceptable and has no place on a shopping forum. If it had been an in-appropiate statement, it would been deleted.

Another new friend.
How do you know this vendor doesn’t personally know Marlo?
Maybe she heard Marlo say something about cooking and liking chicken on a previous broadcast. Maybe she and Marlo had a conversation prior to the live show, and Marlo revealed something about her cuisine likes and dislikes.
Why make such broad assumptions about the race of both parties based on one comment?

I didn’t see Marlo’s face and can’t rewatch it, but I hope it was not said the way that u interpreted it. ?
