I plant a garden every year and know how to sew as well. I would grow my own food and use the plant stems to weave into panels to use for clothes. Either that or just go tip toeing thru the tulips in my birthday suit. And you better make your own clothes to cover your eyes because at my age, aint nobody wants to see that anymore!

I’d love to grow my own food, but as I’m allergic to the sun, I’ll have to opt to make my own clothes. Even though I haven’t made any since the late 70’s!

I would definitely make my clothes…you can’t wear anything if you starve!! (I kill plants easily)
-
I would grow my own food at least I would know what I was eating
:smileylol: -
GROW MY OWN FOOD. MY MOM ALWAYS HAD A GARDEN WHEN I WAS A KID & I GOT SPOILED BY HAVING HOME GROWN TOMATOES, LEAF LETTUCE & MANY OTHER THINGS. WHEN I GREW UP I ASSUMED THAT WHAT I BOUGHT IN THE STORE WOULD TASTE THE SAME. MA REALLY SPOILED US! (ORANGE TOMATOES IN JANUARY? – MIGHT AS WELL EAT RUBBER!!)

Neither..
I can’t sew a straight line..So I shop,shop,shop.
I have a brown thumb..and or country critters eat what I had planted.
Now..I buy and help support our local hardworking farmers..from now until Oct.
When my kids were little they wanted to know where spagetti came from..I said the “spagetti tree”..So I cooked some and hung it on a tree outside their bedroom window….I guess I planted spagetti!:smileylol:

Having done both, I’d say that growing your own food is the most rewarding. Understanding what is involved from seed to table is so rewarding.

I would get a seamstress and a gardner. Seriously, I would sew my own cloths, I have sewn my own clothes in the past. However, plants hate me. They shrivel up and die just looking at me, not that I am homely. I guess I did something horribe to plants in a past life, because no matter how I care for them, they die on me. I don’t know if plants have hearts, I doubt they do, but I was thinking, “Did I just give that plant a heart attack?” I do take good care of plants. They shudder in terror when I take care of them.

I’m torn here but I’m gonna go with making clothes. I love the creative outlet and weather changes can destroy a crop and leave the farmer with nothing. I know a lot of farmers and my granparents were farmers. They are the hardest working and under valued people!

I can’t sew at all, but worse I kill everything I try to grow. I have tried all the easy plants they say just water and you can’t kill them..Well I do. So I would choose sewing my clothes. They would look silly and all crooked but if I had to grow my food I’d be up —– creek!:womanembarrassed:

I would grow my own food because I can live without clothes but not food. I would share my food with friends and family and those that chose to sew would make the clothes for me!:womanlol:

This is a no brainer for me Adam. I would grow my own food and continue to buy my clothes from HSN of course! :womanhappy:

We currently grow a lot of our own food and harvest animals for meat. We hunt and fish. While I’m allergic to fish, there is no meat more pure than a deer or elk. No hormones, no drugs, just pure meat. Now I can darn a sock or sew on a button and I can embroider but I can’t sew.

This one is easy because I hate to sew. (Although I used to love to crochet) Through the years, if something needed to be sewn I would stick it in the back of the closet, then eventually go to Salvation Army.
Although before my Dad passed, I would (just for him) sew buttons on his shirts , and sew up his shorts…he was very particular on his shorts, and couldn’t always find the ones he liked!
I haven’t had a garden since Mom passed, and that last one was tremendous! Huge zucchinies,,,couldn’t keep up with them. Lots of tomatoes, pattypan squash, bell peppers!
Then I became disabled and couldn’t do it anyway.
But a few months ago I was watching HSN and saw the Growums # 462-291 (sold out I see)…but figured that would be perfect just outside my back door. I have a big gardening cabinet to sit them on.
I got the pizza kit and the salad kit. NOW I was wayyyyy late on starting them, but they are growing great now.
The cucumbers (which I need to get trellis’ for them) are about 6″ high and lots of flowers on them. I’m also growing carrots, romaine lettuce, bell peppers, basil, oregano, and tomatoes.
I may have to try to grow the tomatoes in the house during the winter! LOL
This may be desisgned for kids, but I highly recommend it for anyone who is disabled, or not much of a green thumb.
It comes with tons of seeds, the planter, the “magic” moss, and the starting peat pots and container. . I did have to buy a couple extra planters and potting soil because I planted a “BIT” more than what they recommend in the planter.

This question reminds me of the very old joke: Do you walk to work or carry your lunch? Just a little more seriously….I would make my clothes. Being a naked gardener doesn’t sound like very much fun. :manvery-happy:
