This was a TS last September and I remember it had great reviews but that item number with the reviews has disappeared from the site.  If you search ice on the conversations box on the main community page there are a couple of threads about it.

Hello , the 477-079, Portable Ice maker does not carry a manufacturer’s warranty however, there is a contact for troubleshooting assistance. Also, the 2 year (HPP) HSN Protection Plan is available for $24.95 and recommended for worry-free coverage for a replacement or refund on this item.  You can add HPP at time of purchase or within 90 days.

I purchased the TS ice maker last year and it lasted a little over 90 days before starting to give trouble. I filtered all the water I put in it through a Britta pitcher and slowly it stopped working. It was manufactured by Igloo under the Improvements brand. I found this out because I have since purchased another identical one from Walmart except it has Igloo on it. Both places -HSN & Walmart had similar reviews about them working fine for awhile and then stopping. Many customers were complaining about not being able to get any help from customer service from the main company that was responsible for warranty after initial sales time ran out.

I used vinegar and water and got it going for a short while but it wouldn’t last. I purchased ice maker cleaner and it didn’t help either. As I mentioned I purchased another one from Walmart about 4 months ago and it is right now doing the same thing the HSN one did.

This new  one today is a different brand. I looked at Walmart’s website and found one that looked like it and it had pretty good reviews. Think it might be MagicChef but now sure. Walmart was $10 higher than the TS price today. I purchased another one from HSN today. I have a homebound husband and I am disabled and can’t carry bags of ice from town. I am hoping for better results from this brand. One thing I can tell everyone is DO NOT TURN THEM UPSIDE DOWN OR SIDEWAYS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. If you transport it anywhere you are suppose to level it up and wait at least 2 hrs. before using it. Both of mine were handed to me from UPS upside down. Go figure.

Oops, I purchased this as the TS also. I checked for prior reviews  and could not find any. Now seeing this blog I am wondering if I made a mistake……..YUK!!!

FYI, if you can’t find reviews on anything, check amazon, I always find plenty as well as other sites
