Jay King’s Jewelry all made in China
I use to love Jay’s jewelry, not anymore. It is all made in China. There are a couple of earrings that are made in the USA. I really am not happy about it.
It is a shame that he is doing this now.
I guess that is why it is cheaper.
I lived in Santa Fe and I must tell you that the beautiful jewelry is all made right there.

Silver still is not that expensive (around $14.00/oz.) however I have noticed that Jay’s bracelets are much more narrow than they used to be. I think many jewelry manufacturers are cutting corners to make a higher profit on each piece seeing the demand is not as great as it was a few years ago.

I have to agree with LightofDay. Jay’s jewelry is very ‘cookie cutter’ with the only variety being the stones used. His quality of both stone and design has really gone downhill. I don’t even bother to watch his shows any longer.

I keep trying to love his line as much as I used to, but I’m not successful. It is so weird because you have all these gorgeous gem varieties, every kind of new design/bead cuts, versatility of pieces with removable and now reversible pendants … but still there is this ‘something’ that makes then ordinary rather than special or even extraordinary.
This is obviously JMO, but very few of them today have that solid, substantial custom-made quality to them. They somehow have managed to make all these different designs have the same cookie-cutter look & feel. He gives a rainbow of variety, and they all start to look & feel the same, which is almost bizarre. They have a definite commercial quality to them. Is this the China factor (or just cutbacks in general, due to silver prices, etc.) What was the time frame he pulled production from US and moved it to China?
I long for the old Jay King quality.

I agree. I just bought his pear shape earrings. They are made in USA. However, I will not buy any of his other things. They just are not same quality as years ago. Too bad that he has to send his stuff to be made in China. The Native Americans need the work.

I have been watching Jay this weekend and hearing him stress over and over about all the silver he uses is “green” and always bought from USA silver. Never does he mention that all that must be sent to China to have the jewelry made. I have quite a few pieces of Jay’s jewelry but a lot of it was bought several years ago. I did buy a ring a couple of year’s ago and it didn’t seem to be of the quality of his older pieces.
