Heidi Daus costume jewelry expensive?

Most of her jewelry is way to gaudy for my personal preferences.  I think her jewelry is well made, or appears to be, but there isn’t any place that I would wear it, except maybe, a few of her brooches.  She reminds me of Anna Griffin’s philosophy “more is more”.  If you like her jewelry and can afford it go for it.  After all it is about you and what you like and not what others think.

The day I have to worry about the resale value of my jewelry before I buy is the day I give up.  Buy what you like, enjoy it because life is short and in the end your kids will donate or trash most of what you considered your treasures.

I own over 500 of Heidi’s pieces.  The workmanship and lifetime guarantee is well worth the price.  I wear her jewelry with jeans and heels to the movies or dinner all the time.  people will compliment you everywhere you go.  People will stop you in the grocery store.    She does smaller pieces, rings, bracelets, earrings, buy something small and jump in.

I personally cannot afford it, but I love the one Heidi piece I own that I got on clearance. Her jewelry is beautiful though, and I would like to buy a few more pieces someday.:smileyhappy:

I find her jewelry extremely expensive.  I have no problem with it though.  I don’t purchase it.  I’m pleased for those who do purchase it and enjoy it.  I am considering a brooch though but will not pay a lot of money a costume one.

Me too. Just bought two items from eBay at a fraction of the cost but agree sometimes you see the same price and often you see it priced higher on eBay and it’s still on sale at HSN. You have to be careful and look close

If you own real gold it has value….costume jewelry does not. And it makes my skin itch.  A lot of Heidi’s pieces sell on ebay for a fraction of what the original price was.  

I agree that it is starting to be hard to justify up to $600 for costume jewelry, but consider this:  I am a certified estate jewelry appraiser and have sold estate jewelry for 35 years.  In all those years, Heidi Daus costume jewelry is the ONLY costume jewelry that still commands it’s original if not higher price on the secondary market.  Items like Studio Barse that sold for $40 sell for $5 on the secondary market.  IMO, Heidi’s workmanship and designs will be in design books and value guides in the future if they are not already.  I’ve been out of the market a few years, but know people instantly recognize it and want it.

Also consider this.  You go to Kohl’s for a sterling silver and cz necklace that is marked $75.  They have it at 75% off.  So with tax you pay about $20.  It contains about $1.00 of actual silver because it is so light and the chain breaks the second or third time you wear it or the cz falls out.  That, my friend, is a rip off.

heidi produces works of art. and, like any other piece of art work, the TRUE VALUE is WHAT IT IS WORTH TO YOU. with all due respect, always remember, “one man’s treasure, is another man’s…”. i think you get what i mean. love you heidi!!! oh, sigh.. xoxo

I wear Heidi Daus jewelry almost everyday . I mean even if I am not planning to leave the house . It is beautiful , unique  and as I often say  add some sparkle to your life . 

It is not a hidden secret where it is made and how much it cost .

Actually I think most Heidi customers are very savvy and well informed consumers.

I agree, I am on a budget and can’t find myself buying costume jewelry that is made with glass. I saw one bracelet that was quite heavy looking and all of the gems were glass. Event the Clearnace prices are too high for costume jewelry. Can’t believe that there are so many women that clamor for this jewelry. Does everyone know that it is made in China?

I just received my first Heidi piece 2 days ago! I ordered a pair of earrings on clearance which I thought were adorable for everyday. I am in total love. They are so amazing. Unique, crystals sparkle and no one has them. I know they are pricey but you get what you pay for here. Such beauty and I felt so chique with a twist of elegance even though I was wearing a chambray shirt those earrings rocked! I like the smaller earrings so I am lucky because they are expensie but go on sale. I think I will keep an eye on the turtle earrings. I think the necklaces are great ut likely too heavy for my bad neck. I am excited that I found this jewelry and now totally understand why so many people love it. I am looking for the flower earrings to come back. They were matching earrings to a TS and I wished to hae ordered them but I had no clue how beautiful and well made they are. I think maybe the website has a number I can call. But for all who never tried Heidi earrings its like a great feeling of luxury and such a break from the hoop and stud.
