A house is just a building, it becomes a home when it is filled with the people you love. So as long as I have the people I love I could part with all my things. And trust me, I have a lot of collections of many things. Though it would be hard to part with certain things like gifts, cards, pictures, etc. that my boys have gifted me with.

I don’t get it

Unfortunately I keep it all, but getting older I need to throw out and I donate.
-
I’d rather keep it to give it away rather than to throw it away.

KEEP. I THROW AS I GO. LESS IS MORE!!!

I usually keep expensive cloths for 10 years or longer . After my retirement I kept my work suits and tops and guess what they came back around in style . If my closet becomes so full I’m running out of hangers and space I know it’s time to give clothes away to the family and friends or to Goodwill . Once I buy something new I try to give something away. This keeps the closet and the dresser drawer in balance. At my age I’m more interested in comfort and leisure. I can certainly get that at HSN with Liz Lange and Slinky And other brands HSN Feature that are comfortable . I have never been a pack rat so I love to give things away, especially if someone complements a piece of jewelry I will sometimes give it to them because I know I can order again from you.

I’m a believer in the “l year rule”. If I havn’t worn or used it by then it’s wasted space and given to friends or charity. Honestly I feel better in giving than receiving (most of the time LOL!).:catvery-happy:

I’m a keeper…of family treasures from my parents and grandparents and Honey’s parents.Losts of antiques, etc…Lots of good memories!
My kids say get rid of the “old junk”!..I’m sure one day it will all be tossed in the biggest dumpster thay can rent!!
I do donate alot of my more modern things that I get tired of having around.

Hi Adam..I use the tried and true method, 3 containers marked..Keep.Donate.Trash..usually does the trick with any task! ddshoppy

I’m going to read between the lines and interpret that by “everything” you mean material things.
That said, my photos, important documents, and a couple of personal momentos being exempt I’d give not throw it all away.
Now about my shoe collection: I would absolutely give them to my sister who doesn’t wear my size.

Throughout life I’ve lost everything just like I’ve gained it all back. These material possessions we all think we cannot live without can be gone in a blink of an eye. When I was at my lowest I realized that the love in my heart was greater than any material possession money could buy so essentially when I read this I blurted out “rid it all, start over”… With each new chapter in our life we lose certain things just to gain new things , be it friends , material items or even career paths, heck, even habits. Like the saying goes , you can’t teach an old dog new tricks .. But what you can do is start over and rebuild what you’ve lost or got rid of ..

Keep the things I like, donate what I don’t and recycle or dispose of whatever is left.:womanvery-happy:

Well Adam to be honest I’m a keeper… I tend to attach certain items to family memories or meaningful event’s. I do try to purge at least every year and either will donate to my local church or Goodwill. Some items I re purpose, for example: Newspapers I keep and use to clean mirrors or windows, old socks to dust or polish, ripped clothing I find multipurpose uses from drying my car or even stuffing flat decorative pillows.
My grandmother taught me to always recycle and re purpose anything that was usable. Of course keepsakes and personal mementos go without saying. My Garage could use a purge at the moment, but I’m avoiding that project by keeping busy on HSN…Lol!

Definitely never keep everything! But, never throw away. I donate and give to those in need. I’m blessed with all I have been given in life and I’m very happy and thankful to have the opportunity to share and give to others.

Hi Adam – I just went through a whole kitchen remodel and I had to make decisions about what to keep and what to throw out or recycle. I took it beyond the kitchen and made piles of things that I hadn’t used in years and things that I use daily.
I gave away some blankets that were a little worn to the Pet Hospital. I donated new clothing that I never really needed, and things in good shape that someone could use, to the Mission.
I can’t say that I would get rid of everything or keep it all. All I know is that “we” have too much and it’s better to give some of it away to someone who may actually need it more than “we” do.:womanhappy:
