I moved from NC to Texas recently, jewelry I always keep unless a family member desires it, clothes, shoes and handbags I donate although I have a hard time giving away perfectly nice things. My neice is a teacher and has to spend her money on her kids clothes, so today I am going to go though my closet and pick out lots of clothes for her, all from HSN because I ony buy all my things from HSN.

IT’S JUST STUFF….
My basement storage area just flooded with a sewer backup. Everything had to be thrown out. Photos and other memories are in my head and heart. After all, it’s “just stuff”!
-
Keep. And then as I no longer need something, then I throw !
-
Keep everything! Because at one time, it was something I really wanted.

As long as you take care of your things, know where they are, there is no need to throw good things away. I am far from being a hoarder, but you never know when that certain dress, when that old roll of twine, or when that pot you seldom use will become something you will be sooo happy you didn’t get rid of it. And the very best part – not another trip to the store to buy the very same thing you just got rid of. I just got that old roll of twine out to hold some plants up – and I still have a little bit left for next time. Next time might be to tie up a chicken or two for my HSN smoker! And that “old pot”, it just helped me out with a canning project.

Keep everything until you turn 70, then give it all away. At some point your possessions become burdens but it’s nice to have lots of stuff to share. Does anyone need an avocado and gold color hooked rug?

I keep what is needed, donate overload, and throw away the worn out.

It’s very hard to break old habits. I’m a keeper at heart but know that it’s better not to be. I’m trying to improve.

I do keep some of my things, i buy quality and timeless clothing. I do however have a yard sale once a year and then donate a lot for the local clothing and food bank! One thing, i rather keep is my gift closet and i can make a basket for any occassion quick. Now, that my children are grown and most of their stuff is out, cough cough…..most of the clutter is gone…cough cough!!! Grandchildren rule and have a special toybox and their picture gallery on Nana’s fridge!:catlol:

I am in the process of downsizing and find that if I decide to keep an item, then something else must be donated. With so little space to work with and anything kept results in clutter, then it must go. We are fortunate to have a Recycle Center where I currently live where items are donated free and given away for free. Here they take everything (books, cds, lps, electronics, glassware, dishes, toys, furniture, wicker, bedding, clothing, etc). I just wish there was one in every community.

Hello,
I think it depends on the importance of the item or items in question. I keep alot of things that carry special memories. Reflection can be a good thing for some of us providing healing.
Others find it hard to let go of that pretty red dress knowing one day they will be able to fit it. It does not matter if the dress is too big or small. I am all for memories today.

I love reading everybody’s ideas 🙂
They are great and so fun to see who has the best answer:)
This is going to be a hard one to decide which one will be the winner:)
Good luck everyone:)

Hi Adam,
I use to keep everything until I ran out of room:)
I would not throw away all because I wouldn’t have everything I need:)
Basically I would keep the things that I use and need and throw or give some of the things I don’t need:)
Another words I would throw away things I no longer use or need:)
Keep the things I use and need:)
Usually when I get done with things they are usually for the rag bag and throw away:)
Yes, I that is my final answer:)
Thank you for asking:)
Have a wonderful time:)
Peace and love always,
Linda

Recycle and repurpose, baby!
That means keeping everything so you can:
– use in crafts and repurposing items, such as mid-century modern or shabby chic;
– help your two nephews set up homes after college;
– donate household items, gently used toys and books, and clothing to the Women’s Shelter, The Salvation Army, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Every year, a few fires devastate some local families, and they have to start from scratch, plus rehousing the homeless is never ending.
– resell pieces in a consignment shop, and donate cash to your house of worship’s missions/projects and cash to The Red Cross and other worthy charities who respond to natural disasters, such as the flooding in Louisiana.
Our state recycles everything, including paper, cardboard, plastics #1-10, metals, glass, used oil, toxic household and gardening products, and you don’t have to sort or separate (except the last two).
Go green and maintain our Arcadia, HSN!

I like to get rid of things as we no longer need them, No, not my husband, I remember all those years ago looking at him lovingly as he said, ” I am going to keep the electrical insides to this broken lamp: I wlil never forget those romantic fluttering of my heart beating with love for this resourceful provider.
All these years later, we could almost be on “The Hoarders.” We cannot throw anything away, we might need it/sarcasm
If I only had a crystal ball that day. Broken lamp and electrical insides gone. Keep the hubby.
