SHAME ON YOU HSN
Chris Scanlon who was with HSN for over 21 years has left and you don’t even allow her a goodby sendoff. We learn about it from the blogs. She a;ways did a great job. What a difference between you and QVC.I’m sure Chris made your compamy a lot of money over the years. She deserved better

Chris was down to earth, professional, genuine & always was in prime time slots so that right there says she was making money for hsn. I said this on another related thread….if I was one of the other long time hosts I would be wondering who is next. It creates a stressed out work environment. The only good news is since her husband is a ski instructor, he can do that fulltime now that she is no longer a host. Chris will be missed!

I think HSN is going through a financial crisis like the rest of America! That is why they are seeking out ANYONE who may bring in money!!::-k

yep, I agree and I dont even like Chris..but she was always pleasant and seemed to love her job, that is really what you call SHI***, must make your other employees very nervous and guess what DAH, that translate into nerve wracking hosting for us. Surprised because I thought HSN had a femal CEO,hummmm?

I am very sad to read this. Chris was perhaps the most natural host on air, unmannered, and always at ease. She had a great way with the guests, and was always great fun to watch. And yes, if she retired or was not renewed, some sort of send-off or announcement was very much in order.
I notice there a couple new hosts at HSN, and I’m sure they’ll do fine. Some of us, however, enjoy the continuity of watching hosts we have enjoyed for years. I appreciate the expertise of a seasoned host, not someone who has trouble pronouncing product names, no matter how slim or young they may be.
Not great form, HSN.

Chris’ FB page is still there as a fan page with HSN listed as her employer. However, Chris has posted nothing on it for awhile.

I agree that this is a business, and it is all about sales. But even if her sales were not where HSN wanted them ( which I highly doubt) They could have at least allowed her the opportunity to say she was leaving.Over at the Q Patti Reilly ( who supposedly was forced out) was given a goodby.I have been in sales my entire life and Chris didn’t last 21 years by not being good. This was not imho the way to treat a longtime valued employee.I think it speaks volumes about the way HSN feels and treats it’s employees.I agree ,that Chris was one of the most down to earth and sincere show hosts. whats the scoop with Patty Reily and the Q?

To me, it isn’t about whether the company gave Chris or any other host a private send-off. It’s about the customers. Customers are encouraged by the company to develop a more personal (emotional) relationship with hosts on Facebook, for example, so it is good business sense to give the customers a heads-up when one of their “Facebook friends” is about to leave or has left. Common sense. Proactive rather than reactive. And the bottom-line benefit is that by encouraging a more personal relationship and emotional connection, the company will sell more. PR 101.

It’s been over 2 years since I stopped watching HSN. Do not miss the hosts. Now,maybe twice a week I will check on line to see what’s new and stop and read some of the the community boards.I don’t use facebook or twitter or whatever the lastest gadget to communicate with any hosts. Most of the hosts are polite and each has, depending on who you ask, can sell water to a fish. Wish them all much success and happiness, but no they will not be miss.

queeniebee I agree with 2 hosts being gone at the same time….the good news is that since her husband is a ski instructor, even if this wasn’t her choice to leave they can may the best of it and he can do it fulltime. It’s refreshing to see POSITIVE comments about a host. I often wonder who the people are and what they look like as they post negative comments about hosts ripping on their weight, looks etc. Chris was sincere, genuine and honest….came across as very real. I wish her the best!! If I was another long time host it would make me wonder if I was next…if it could happen to Chris :-s

Business or not, Chris deserved a proper send off.The public should have been informed. Yes, maybe Chris didn’t want a big todo. I don’t go to Facebook, but if she posts anything on FB, could someone post it here. There is definitely more to this story. Chris was one of my favorite hosts and one of the few I still watch.
-
Make no mistake, HSN is a business and the show hosts are employees who are there to do their jobs, which is to sell. They aren’t your family or friends, they’re just salespeople. If they decide to leave and move on, that’s their own personal business and HSN isn’t obligated to make any public announcement…IMHO.

Chris would have never just left HSN and not have said good bye. I believe there is way more to the story than that. Chris loved her viewers and at the very least would have taken a moment to thank them for watching her over the years. Shame on Hsn is right! Strange that she is not the only show host gone at around same time.
