What’s up with all the "unhelpful" marks on comments lately (when the comments are indeed helpful)??
I was just reading through the comments for a recent today’s special and I was surprised (and saddened really) to see so many comments marked as not helpful. I get it, if someone talks about their online ordering troubles, or post office problems or something else that’s totally unrelated to the product, then yes, those comments aren’t very helpful when trying to evaluate that actual product. But there were dozens of very useful comments about this particular bracelet that all had multiple unhelpful ticks and none for helpful. That just seems mean. If someone takes the time to write about how an item fits and provides their body type, or what an item looks like in person, or other item-specific tidbits, I find those comments very helpful and I think it’s sad that people criticize those comment. Are these people just in bad moods??? If someone is talking about how the small fits her and that person is a size large and can’t really use the information, it doesn’t mean it’s an unhelpful comment. I think the negative tick marks discourage people from commenting. The thought being “well, if people don’t find what I have to say helpful, then I won’t bother) when, in fact, the comments are helpful it’s likely just the same handful of negative people who are spoiling it. It made me sad. I sorted the 8 pages of comments by least helpful first just to see and I stopped reading after going through three pages of good, quality comments that all only had unhelpful ticks next to them. I suppose it just another example of people using the internet to express negativity. It’s so unfortunate.
So to those whose comments receive unhelpful ticks, please don’t stop commenting. Your insight is very much appreciated.
