*Updated Launch Date: New changes to the Community are coming soon!
**Launch Date has been updated to reflect new date
Hi everyone! We’re working on some exciting new changes to make the Community experience even better! With that said, we wanted to share with you all what to expect as we introduce these changes on March 15, 2017 and answer any questions you may have.
What’s going to change?
1. Rankings – We’ve heard your feedback and understand that Community ranks can be confusing. Instead, we’re going to use roles for identifying user types like “moderator” or “expert” so you can distinguish between Community members, experts and moderators.
2. Q&As – Q&A’s just like these are coming back in March to help you better connect with the HSN experts and brands you love!
3. Mobile – The mobile experience is getting an overhaul to resemble the same look & feel that you’re familiar with on desktop to help you stay connected with your friends on-the-go! :smileyhappy:
4. Articles – We’re excited to also say that our articles will be moving to their own destination. Think of this as a mini HSN magazine that will include DIY projects, home inspiration, fashion tips and more!
5. Private Messaging – This will be going away temporarily as we make changes, but we plan to keep this feature once updated.
6. Favorites & Subscriptions – We’re making two of your favorite features more easily accessible and more prominent on the home screen. Favorite: You’ll be able to bookmark topics that you’d like to follow or that you’ve commented on. Subscribe: You’ll be able to stay in the know when it comes to your favorite boards and topics by subscribing to them to follow any new posts. You will be able to access your favorites and subscriptions with one click on the home screen – no more digging through different topic threads! :smileyhappy:
The look and feel of the Community will be refreshed, but almost identical to our current design! We’re so excited! But, we always want to hear your feedback on how we can make your experience here even better. Are there any specific features you all would like to see?

, Thanks for answering each of us. But once again, things have been left kind of up in the air, so I have a few more question/clarifications.
With your clarification, I believe you are now saying that the ticket totals will be next to our name INSTEAD of a rank.
A few posts below you said the ticket totals GOING FORWARD will be next to our name?
SO for those of us who have worked and played hard to get all the tickets that we have……are we going to lose those tickets. I know tickets per se don’t mean much to many people here, and that’s fine. But like I said there are many of us who do play and work hard at the games. ONCE again…will we lose those tickets?
For example: I have over 5 million lifetime tickets and over 3 million current tickets DO I LOSE THOSE?
And will the “going forward” tickets next to our name be starting over? And in addition are these the tickets that we will get for posting?
And if if is the posting tickets that will be next to our names…well that is indeed a rank. You are just changing one type of rank to another type of rank. I for one do not post on picture and chat threads. And I also do not post on many of the product threads because they become picture and chat threads.
Picture and chat threads are fine in a specific area of the community but not spread throught the main community forum.
You still need to tell us if we are going to lose our existing tickets (which really is not fair).

Thank you for taking the time to respond to each member. Your action makes me believe that you really do care and want to make the community a better place. The changes I would like to see are:
- Remove any type of rankings. We have asked for this for years. I am thrilled you’re listening.
- Due to security reasons and a member being stalked on Facebook, I like the articles and Q & A with designers and vendors within the community. How about locating their threads within the correct sub category. For example, an ask Lancome questions placed in beauty sub category. I am excited to see an online like magazine in the future. I am a Q Insider and enjoy their monthly magazine.
- Organize threads under proper sub categories and have moderators move threads to appropriate sub category. This is an area where the Q really shines. If I want to read about everything beauty, I click on the beauty tab knowing all posts pertain to beauty.
- Create a sub category titled Friends to Friends for the many chit chat and picture threads. I don’t want to sift through the pictures, gifs and chit chat to read information about products.
- Fair moderation across the community for every member. I understand the guidelines are vague and subject to the interpretation of the moderator on duty at the time. It causes confusion and animosity when one member’s post is pulled or even banned, but another member posts something similar without any repercussions.
- Bring the community back to discussions about HSN products and arcade. At times I feel this is more of a general chatroom rather than a place to share information about HSN products.
- Remove negative or mean-spirited posts including comments directed toward any HSN employees, vendors, designers or community members. I really don’t want to read a post asking when did so and so get a double chin.
- Remove posts containing cuss words-masked or not, political posts-masked or not, or subjects that may cause an upheaval. I understand we are all adults, but again this is not a general chat room and can be offensive to some.
- Last, please let us know why a post was deleted to avoid further confusion.
Thank you for reaching out to us and asking for our thoughts. Thank you for clarifying your initial post about rankings. I look forward to positive changes and support your efforts.

If the ranking and smile systems are to be eliminated then why post ticket amounts along with a persons name and avatar. I prefer the ticket amounts stay as they are; posted by my name in the Arcade section. Some do not play the games and should not be made to feel inadequate in any way about the amount of tickets they have or have not acquired. This is just my humble opinion.:womanhappy:
-
Briana, I think you are missing the point of many. People do NOT want their ticket totals displayed next to their name on the forums. If ranks are going away why not just display names? While I have millions of tickets what does that have to do with posting in the community? You used the word “rival” in your initial post, this will be replacing title drama with tickets drama! Terrible idea!

Ms Anderson, does this also mean by NO Ranking System, that there will no long be a Smile Board. That too is a ranking system and should be done away with as well.
Thank you for taking your time to reply to everyone.

Hello everyone! I am working to respond to you all as soon as possible! I want to make sure to address all your questions and concerns. However, I would like to clarify one thing as it involves rankings. Your Arcade ticket amounts WILL NOT be used as a form of rank. These will simply now be displayed on your profile. No user will be measured or ranked in any way. I apologize if the initial wording alarmed you all to think this way. We want to make this a great environment for everyone, and continue to grow and offer you all wonderful opportunities here. I appreciate hearing all of your feedback and am passing it along to my team so we can make the Community even better. Please understand this update isn’t to confuse any of you, this update will actually be very beneficial to a lot of you. Organization and navigation are key for us to perfect for you all here, and that is what we’re aiming to enhance over time. Our Q&As are temporarily stopping as we make some changes and work out any kinks. We will not be disconnecting you from our partners and designers, we want to make this easier and better! The Community is a place for you all to gain insight on our products and more – we hope you all know that our goal is to make sure this always happens efficiently.
Thanks again everyone!

Hi Brianna, (pretty name by the way).
I’m relatively new to the community (maybe been reading and posting about 6 months or so) but I’ll give my 2 cents worth since your asking.
1) The rankings. If by rankings you are talking about those cute little labels by our names, such as “New Friend”, Admirer, Maven, Inspirer, etc… I think they are CUTE, and love them. I thought it had to do with how long you were active on the community. Didn’t know it had anything to do with playing in the arcade and ticket accumulation.
2) That said. I do not play the games, I do not have time. But I do like reading the boards. I agree with others that I can’t see anyone here wanting to compete with others, and/ or making those of us who don’t compete feel left out.
3) I like the Q&As, they are usually fun, and interactive, and I think it’s one of the best parts of the community.
4) I do not access via Mobile, so can’t comment on those issues. I only use my PC when I want to visit shopping sites. Mobile devices are very dangerous and do not have good protections for safety like PCs, so I caution all, who do banking/shopping via Mobile phone, especially if out and about using open WiFi.
5) Articles? Not sure what you are referring to. I don’t think I have ever seen them in the Community, so can’t comment.
Thanks!
-
Um, no thank you. New does not always equate to improved. Please don’t display my ticket amounts to anyone else but me. Please don’t award tickets for “Interacting”. That sounds rather like Kindergarten. Beat my Rivals? Really? These lovely folks have never been considered to be my rivals. Sounds like we’re being baited to become more competitive and less supportive. Very bad idea, in my humble opinion. The idea of Ranking in a Community is not a tool to build a better community.
However, placing Articles in a separate destination would make it easier to locate information.
Thank you for asking for opinions and feedback. Overall it feels like this is well-intentioned but needs to be studied more….get to know the people better that you are trying to serve.

This idea of posting ticket amounts is insane!
If a person comments on a thread in Health and Wellness, for instance, and it’s accompanied by TICKET AMOUNTS–who cares???????????????
Stupidity.
-
Personally I don’t like anything by my name….and especially due to how many posts I have made making a rank change..I would rather there were no titles..Never has made sense to me that you get ranked up for posting,posting,posting..Don’t want my ticket amount beside my name either..Why not just have a user name and leave it at that..I only go to the forums for informaton or to interact from time to time..I am not here to impress anyone for some type of bogus status based on posts or tickets.
I rarely read the forum anymore and just scan the topics once in awhile. To much posting just to be posting to rank up.
-
I like the new changes! Keep them coming. Can’t wait till this switches over.
-
I don’t even play the games. 🙁
-
Ranking by tickets? Well…sorry but that’s one of the dumbest ideas ever. What about people that have been playing for years vs. those that haven’t played long. What about some beloved Community Members that may not really play games? And people like me, that can only play about 4 or 5 games because I play on an iPad Mini, where only certain games work. And then there are those that don’t have time to play vs. those that play all the time. This is really dumb and is really rather insulting. Currently…it ain’t broke…so don’t try to fix a problem that doesn’t exist.

So why is it even necessary to post how many tickets someone has next to their name? Why not just put their name, take out everything else & end the drama? I personally don’t care how many tickets anyone has & with all the drama the past 2 years don’t care about the so called titles either as they mean nothing. People post things that have no meaning like “be right back” & “LOL” just to get a post so the system generates post to go to the next level, it means nothing! When I first came on the forum a couple years ago I thought the levels actually meant something like to be a so called “Maven” meant that people really earned that title by helping people and by being genuine, but found out different it is system generated and by every little post no matter how short it bumps up to the next level and the new people that came on discovered this very quickly by their so helpful “mentors”, yes I have learned alot how it really goes on this forum behind the scenes. I don’t understand why people feel that need to keep rising to the top you don’t get an HSN discount, you don’t get a smiley face button (although I have noticed a lot of unneccessary smiling on really old posts lately) yes, I have learned alot so I am on to things now. Everyone for some reason is so competive and for what???? Really what is everyone getting by being so competitive? This forum I thought is to be for fun and to chat with one another & to share tips and such??? I just read above and just now read the word “rivals” why does that word have to be in there??? How about another more positive word????????? Because next people will be boo hooing about how many tickets people have, I don’t care as I very seldom play the arcade anymore but I just know there will be some that will start accusing people of having people playing their games for them or some other kind of crap you just wait, I do wonder how people sit on their butts and play games all day, you must have a sore hiney……
