TERRIBLE SHIPPING and LACK of Shipping Quickly

For someone who claims to understand shipping, you appear to be misinformed.  Do you honestly think that HSN is intentionally choosing a slower shipping method for the same rate as a faster one?  Really?  You actually believe this?

The fact is that HSN, like many shippers, have contracts with various shippers, and they get significantly-reduced rates over the standard pricing.  UPS SurePost (and the FedEx equivalent) save companies even more.  HSN, like most shippers, try to keep shipping charges low for customers and shipping costs are one of the first things buyers complain about — despite the fact that all shippers have recently raised their rates.

"Hybrid shipping" such as SurePost is not exclusive to HSN.  QVC uses it.  Amazon uses it.  Many retailers use it.  Clearly, if this did not save costs significantly these retailers would not use it. 

Besides, that being said, what is anyone buying from HSN tht is an emergency?  Until HSN begins shipping heart medication, there is nothing I purchase from here to stress myself out about.

A lot of places seem to be using the slower shipping now due to cost.Surepost is usually dropped off at the post office on schedule here and delivered that day if you have a PO Box or the next if it comes to the street address.SmartPost drags.It may lay at the local center for 3 or 4 days before they take it to the Post Office.I do wish places would give an option to pay a couple dollars or more to allow a choice in shipping.

The ONLY place that ships fast, for me, is Amazon. I’m signed-up for their Prime Memberhip and usually get things in two days.

I agree with Toby… it’s just consumer stuff; not emergency stuff. I’ve shopped here long enough to know that my stuff usually comes in about 10-days… and, knowing that, don’t stress about it. It’s the same with the Q and Evine… it is what it is.

If it’s that important that you get what you want likkity-split, then pay for the Expedited Shipping.

Bigthunder… I just now saw your ‘Spoiler’ comment… ‘Priority Mail $4.95… if it fits it Ships up to 70-lbs’.

One of the points I think you are missing is the fact that we’re not just being charged for the actual ‘Cost of Shipping’, but also for the ‘Handling’ of the product(s) being Shipped as well.

I agree ! I HATE SUREPOST ! it adds 2 days to an already rediculously long delivery time. …plus you never know which way an order will be shipped ! Surepost also get’s shoved into my small mail box not located near my house…while UPS is always put on my doorstep; this is a gated secure community and no packages are ever lost or stollen. HSN shipping is disgraceful; I ordered several items Feb. 3 ( a Wednesday ) and they showed "packaging" for 4 days ; then finally shipped on Feb. 8th…today is the 10th yet ‘tracking’  still only shows the last date of Feb. 8 . I am considering "not accepting" delivery when and if they ever show up…

AND HSN shipping costs are outrageous plus we are charged tax on these shipping costs !

For non Amazon Prime Members Free Shipping starts at $35.00 worth of qualified items on Amazon.  This means the products must be sold and shipped by Amazon.  The same applies for Prime.  If it doesn’t say Prime eligible then it’s not free ~ even as a Prime Member.

I mostly get my stuff in a reasonable amount of time from Amazon.  Even on Sunday’s by the USPS!!!

I have tried requesting my orders be shipped ONLY by UPS. HSN says they can’t control shpping method ! This is rediculous. I HATE Surepost;  it always takes 2-3 days longer to be delivered and orders can not be tracked for the last few days. I have cut back ordering and may soon discontinue shopping at hsn. Also, I resent being taxed on the s.and h costs which are already too high. Since everyone pays s.and h an items price should include this.

I agree….Surepost and Smartpost is a joke….I pay an additional 3.50 to keep it ground UPS…I feel that the time it takes from placing an order and actually receiving it is outrageous….its not just HSN, it seems like its all the shopping networks…when its Christmas though… you can order the day before Christmas and its guaranteed delivery by Christmas….how do they do that?  I wish they would give the customer the choice to pick how we want it shipped….priority would be my choice, even though it has gone up in price…who cares..If I order something to be worn in the Summer, I don’t want it delivered in the Fall.….maybe the Pony Express is back….as always, just my opinion

I agree. HSN’s shipping is simply terrible. I placed several orders on Jan 12 and 13…today is Jan 16th and all the items are STILL in the ‘packing’ phase yet can’t be canceled. I’m fed up !
