Items shipped direct from the Factories-WARNING
After 20 + years with HSN I was stunned when a recent purchase did not have a return sticker. I went to USPS and UPS and the cheapest I could return the item shipping was $17.95.(UPS) USPS was $20.25
Since the item was only $17.00 I was shocked the shipping was so high. I called and was told it was shipped directly from the factory, and they would send me a return label in about 5 days. after about 3 days I got a letter explaining that direct from factory items were not covered for free return. ?????? Did anyone else ever know about this or hear in any presentations about this? Since the item did not fit between my console and my seat in my van, this item is useless to me and I am unable to return it as the shipping would be more than my refund. THIS IS UN ACCEPTABLE !!!!!!!! I am totally furious at this and you need to know that if an item is shipped direct from the factory you will be unable to return it without serious fees. HSC what in the world has happened to you?

Wow! Thank you for that information! It is good to know! I’m so sorry you had this experience. HSN has got to know that this practice is not good for business, for sure.
-
NO it is never mentioned in the presentation and YES this happened to me. The item was not as described so hsn refunded my shipping when the package was returned. Customer servive was very understanding in my case and easy to deal with.

This has been discussed on the boards many times, and if you have been payin attention to your invoices over the years, you would have seen that most items shipped directly from the manufactuers do not include the easy return labels.
Additionally, in their presentations, they have never said that EVERy purchase includes the label. They only ever mention the labels on items which come with the label.
For those unaware, perhaps you should hve spent a bit more time investigating the returns before assuming that you could send back every single item on HSN’s dime.

I am so sorry to hear this ?. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. A major part of HSN’s marketing include the 30 day return period and a return postage label. If a product doesn’t include a return postage label, I think this should be clearly indicated on the product page for those who shop on their website. I am not talking fine print, a larger font so buyers can make an informed decision. During their broadcasts, the host should state the product doesn’t qualify for an easy return label. I agree, this isn’t okay and very misleading.

This exact thing happen to me. Back in May I bought a Hotdog Cart. It was damaged. I called HSN because my packing slip DIDN’T have a return label. I must have called Customer Service 8 times everytime it was OK be looking out for a label in 7 to 10 days well, FINALLY a Supervior I guess felt bad and send me a UPS LABEL after 6 months of calling and calling and calling I received a label.
And I’ve been a customer for 30 years. I’m not a happy camper at all I actually had to call Cutomer’Service becasue they put my $400 dollars in spendable cash and it was supose to get credited to my credit card. There excuse was it was past the 30 days. I told then it was damage and it took 6 months for me to get a label. I’m waiting for my Oct statement to see if they credited my credit card.
Not a Happy Camper

It’s happened to me too! I was shocked when I went to send it back, and was told it would cost me close to 20. I then called CS to complain about it and was told that not all items have prepaid return label! Well why not tell customers before hand? Shipped by factory no prepaid label, any return will be at the expense of the customer. I totally agree with Levicowboys5.

CUSTOMER FOR 30 YRS & NEVER HEARD OF THIS. THANKS FOR INFO. WHAT WAS IT YOU ORDERED? (I’D LIKE TO KNOW SO I CAN STAY AWAY FROM IT!)

This was my situation with a beauty product and when I reviewed it (I gave it a 1 star… wish I could give a ZERO stars, it was that bad) I mentioned this issue. EVERY person who returned it mentioned it in their review. Cost me $13 and I had it credited back to me via spendable Kash. Had I known BEFORE hand, I would not have bothered ordering it.
I’m sure the HSN lawyers have made sure it’s legal to NOT have to notify customers in any way of this when making a purchase. Still, it would be GREAT CS if they DID.
One can hope.

I want to thank all of you on this info. Unaware of this problem. WOW! HSN should not be allowing this. Mainly customers 30 years….that’s dedication, and of coarse all other members. Totally “UNFAIR JUSTICE” on returns. You all have woke me up. From now on I’ll be reviewing labels. If they (HSN) see business dropping….oh well, individuals won’t put up with this nonsense. I’m so disappointed in what I am reading tonite. Like a return is going to break a multi-billion dollar company…just “REFUND” don’t just assume giving “SPENDABLE KASH.” :womanfrustrated: :womanmad: :womanfrustrated:

Best to either call and speak with an HSN Supervisor, or write directly to HSN customer serivce so they can reply via email, and you have a record of the reply for your own records.
Evidently we all need to inquire if a prepaid return shiping label comes with the item we are ordering, or else it is too much of a hassle to lug it to UPS or the USPS, especially if the item is big, and you are not strong, not young, or don’t drive. My USPS is 2 buses round trip, and to get to UPS that is a taxi cab ride. Too darn expensive to pay for that.
I prefer to know ahead of time before I order, anything from HSN now, and also need to keep the name of the Supervisor who gives out the telecommunication, or email reply information for “Does this item also come with a prepaid UPS or USPS return label…….especially if the item is defective and needs tobe returned.
Now I need to become even more selective where I shop, because HSN used to always provide prepaid return shipping labels, but now this is a big problem and one I wish to avoid relative to having to return and pay myself for HSN products which may be defective, may not perform satisfactorilly, as demonstrated and promised on public television, or just need to take advantage of the extended holiday return policy, until end of January 2017.
Now with this HSN no shipping return label policy if item is shipped directly from a Manufacturer, it is wise and best to remember that perfect saying which applys in this case, which is “When in doubt, thoroughly check it out”.

This would be a good idea for big ticket items or even items that are just heavy in weight.
I wish you all good luck with Customer Service knowing where the product will ship from when you call to place your orders.

I did not know either! I have items (one is a LG tracfone) I bought that I have to pay to ship back! The SHOW HOST should HAVE to tell the customers this, or as mommyme suggested, they should HAVE to ATLEAST show it on the screen with the description! They withhold this information! How is that fair, ethical, or legal? I’m getting very upset this year with HSN and their policies and poor customer service. I bought a LOT of my Christmas items through HSN this year. NEVER AGAIN!!! I can’t drive much so I’ve been buying from HSN the last few years! I even have their credit card and thought that might have some bearing on these type of returns! Nope! WHY HSN? WHY? SHAME SHAME on YOU!!! :smileymad:

That’s disappointing. And I don’t think you should have to play detective in order to get this information beforehand. Other websites clearly state if something qualifies for an easy return or not. There’s no reason HSN can’t. How are we even supposed to know where something is shipped from when often customer service doesn’t even know? I’m certainly glad my TV was OK. Lord how much would it have cost to send back if it were damaged?
