Flex Pay not for everyone
Would like to know why you bother charging a card when processing a flexpay when you end up declining the purchase? I now have $130 tied up on my debit card as you denied my purchase of an embroidery machine. Not sure why I was able to purchase a rug cleaner last month without issue. If you are basing this on credit scoring and in house criteria why bother authorizing the card for the full amount of the initial flex pay? Why not perhaps charge $1.00 to insure the card is legit and charge on SHIPMENT. You are amongst the few retailers that charge prior to shipping out an item. Guess I’ll take my business to Amazon.com who doesn’t CHARGE until it SHIPS! Now I get to wait a week and a half (according to my bank) for this authorization to drop off. Ridiculous!

Same hing happened to me, QVC never did this to me. HSN should inform us before we choose FlexPay. I guess back to QVC and Amazon. Now I have to wait to get reimbursed my 162.00. So annoying.

I know the feeling they told me 72 hours it would be reversed. and I should see it in my account yet wrong again I called the bank getting no where. I agree everyone else now a days does a pretty authorization; for 0.00 or 1.00 until your credit is checked. bet if it was them they would be feeling the same way

Same problem FIVE XAYS BEFORE Xmas and now account is overdrawn. People at HSN are very rude and cannot offer a simple explanation….However based on what I’ve read and gathered for myself…I’m willing to bet that thousands of unsuspecting people didn’t look at there statements, assuming they would not be charged…It’s sad and a flat out SCAM

This is nothing but a **bleep** scam, I will NEVER buy anything from these scam artists and I will do EVERYTHING I can in order to warn everyone I can about the flex pay denial scam of charging cards. I work for The Indianapolis Star and this will be written aboutto warn Indiana residents.

I tried to order a laptop, and was sure I was going to receive it. Shortly after placing the order I got email saying I was denied. I called and was told that was because I had an order over 500 dollars, and customers usually approved for only about 500 dollars. I then decided attempt using a credit card instead my bank card. I thought I was good again. I received another email saying that they denied again. I called back and guild that it the bank. I then was directed to call people over flexpay. The representative began by saying that everyone is eligible for flexpay, then she stopped and said that they couldn’t extend lexpay to me. I asked and said that she couldn’t explain why, but I would get a letter the mail telling me why. I now have a 101 dollar hold my credit card, and a 83 dollar hold on bank card because stupidity. I am appalled, and will never buy anything from HSN again. I am also letting my friends know what happened. I think they will be sickend too. My friends and family have shopped on HSN for years. I finally thought I would give a , and this is my experience. Never again, and will let everyone know to beware.

How is it you take the 166.00 from my account only to deny the approval of flexpay and now i have to wait on a big shopping day to get my money back? what do you base the denial on?you have none of my personal info and my bank account currently has well over the amount in it…I only decided to do this based on my parents suggestion. They suggested it based on them shopping with you guys for years. The funny thing is,they dont have good credit and live pay check to pay check unlike my husband and i..Rediculous. Based off of everything im reading on this page you guys need to revise your process. I hope my money gets put back in 72 hours like the customer service women told me it would…..This close to christmas im disappointed this happened

I don’t think flex pay is a good thing at at all. If you use it something is bound to go wrong and you will end up paying interest. If you can’t afford to buy it outright and pay off your card as soon as you get the statement, then you should not buy it at all.

I am so disappointed with HSN, I order a computer for only $599.00. I have a HSN credit card with 0 balance. I want to do Flex pay and my order was canceled and my credit card was charged. When I call to see why my order was canceled and I was told that I am not eligble for flex pay. I ask why. I have a credit card and an excellent credit score. I was told you will get a letter. I am so confused on what happen. The bank that HSN card on said there is nothing wrong with my card or account. I never get answer from HSN after 2 calls. I will never buy anything for HSN again. When ordering they should say you have to wait to be approved for flexplay. If I would have know I would have used the 12 month no interest on my HSN card.
Very disappointed customer. They just lost my sale and I will be canceling my HSN card as well.

I had the same problem, this was my first transaction with HSN. I have been using QVC for quite some time and never had any issues. The item I was buying was something I have been watching for quite some time and when I saw it on flex pay I was ecstatic. It being my first time I even recieved an additional 15% off! My excitement was short lived because they charged the initial payment and then cancelled my order with no explanation. When I called I was told my flexpay was declined but they could not tell me why I would have to wait 7-10 days to receive a letter giving an explanation. I will not ever shop here again, no matter how good the deal. Burn me once, I’m not going to stay for a second time.

This same thing just happened to me. I am so upset and angered by it since I didn’t even get notified until a day later. My father wanted to get me the HP was it was the special. I ordered it with his card and went about my day. My dad was very proud of himself telling his friends (he’s 82) until I had to tell him I had received the email about my order being cancelled. I checked his account today and the charge is still pending, thus unavailable.
This is unacceptable practice and I am so disappointed in HSN.

Wow. I wish i would of seen this thread ahead of time. This just happened to me. And now my money is tied up with no merchandise on the way. I agree maybe $1 should be charged but not the whole amouny. Now i get no item and no flex pay. I will deifnitly be shopping elsewhere.

So I called customer service before even placing an order just to find out if this is something they have tried to rectify and indeed they still do have this same issue. Was going to order a macbook, but now due to this, will be taking my business elsewhere. At the end of the day, I understand this is a buisness and they need to know the likelihood the customer will pay because people will take advantge. However, I agree with all of you that the authorization should NOT be taken until that item ships. Simple and plain.

I’m so pissed. I too got my payment cancelled and 131 dollars of hard earned money is disappeared.
