Saw this map from about 10 min. ago. Doesn’t show many of the cities. I hope everyone in its path has taken precautions and/or evacuated. It appears that it has moved further west than originally hoped. Those affected please check in when you can. Storm surges now predicted at 9 ft. 1,500,000 ordered to evacuate. 100-150 mph winds predicted.
I’m hoping that all of you affected by Matthew and all who have friends and relatives in the area make it through safely. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Good morning JPAers!:womanlol: Enjoy your day and give someone one of your smiles! Thank you all for your prayers and concerns and keep those prayers coming as Matthew is knocking on our door. We will all keep you posted on how we are doing. Time for coffee….

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in FL and on the east coast.

No, No, No DBR – You’re doing it backwards!

Would our dear friends on the East Coast mind posting what cities you live in. I have been watching the news and it looks awful? I know the states several of you live in but not where about in the state.
I know Florida is on the East coast but not the city. I know it would be nice for me and I’m sure others while we are all watching this horrible storm to have a better idea where exactly our friends are.
Florida posted earlier that it looked like Deek was in the clear but what I’m now seeing this monster is not veering right so I’d like to know where you are Deek. (I know you told me once but I have forgotten)
I know BB is in S.C. and but do not know the city either.
Do we have any others on the East Coast?
Please know that I and I’m sure all our JPA sisters are concerned and are praying for all of you. I keep going to the TV for updates regularly. I’m sure you are all getting better updates than we are.
How I pray this monster takes a very fast right turn!
I understand that those that are in harms way are likely to loose power and if that happens we will all be waiting to hear from you when you are able to do so.
Stay safe my dear friends and God Bless you all.

To Florida3216 and everyone else in the path of this dreadful storm, you’re in my thoughts and prayers. Please seek safety and stay safe!

Well got back from the grocery store…no water or bread left. Always keep some at home. They are not letting anyone into Miami Beach area after sunset. ? I think you will be spared this one. I’m on the Atlantic in a 28 story highrise with lots of floor-ceiling glass windows. Ayayaya…. Guys just came and closed my shutters. It’s dark and feels like I’m in a tomb.:womanindifferent: here’s a pic…I’ve got to keep my sense of humor going here.:womanhappy:

SweetheartPines, glad that you’ve already made modifications to your mom’s house to help her out. I know that it’s important to have shoes, or bedroom slippers with a sole for more support. Socks are really slippery especially when on hard floors.
With your job a the Aging Resource Center, I know you know a lot more about what is available. I did want to mention though a couple of things. With the 4 wheeled walker you can get at least some of it paid for by Medicare with a prescription if it’s written correctly. I believe that they’ve changed the regulations so that you don’t have as much choice as to where to get it. I did want to mention that going on line and checking out the weight and features is important. Also larger wheels allows it to go over rougher terrain and irregular walkways more easily. Also some ‘lock’ in some way when you fold it up to make it easier to put in car trunk without having it try to open up when you do so. Some are not as comfortable to the back so it’s nice to try it out in person. Also some have a basket under the seat–more protective to purses although you can’t put as much in it. And some have soft vinyl storage areas, usually extra, to make what is in the basket not visible.
If you are purchasing anything related to home care or aids, check out Walgreen’s on line. Usually much cheaper prices for exactly the same brand and item. I saved a friend over $500 buying a chair that lowers into the tub electronically. And it even included the padding which was extra at the other source.
If she ever needs an elevated toilet seat, let me know. I can tell you about one that is better than those vinyl form ones. You can even use your ;’old’ toilet seat and lid. Toilet much nicer that way and more presentable to guests.

Good morning JPAers!!:womanlol: Before I get my cup of coffee let me add to what BassetBabe has said. All of us on the Eastern Seaboard are concerned about hurricane Matthew and I hope everyone has taken all the proper precautions and prepared for this. Our Governor declared a State of Emergency yesterday morning as have many other states as well. We know the drill by now so I just pray we all can ride this out together. If you don’t hear from a lot of us it could be that we lost electricity but we will be back on line as soon as we can. So, for today, let’s get the engines running with a cup of coffee………………

My prayers for each of you or your loved ones affected by this hurricane.

What a beautiful saying Meme – I really needed that one today! I would like to apologize to all of you for shooting off my big mouth. I had some time when I thought this just isn’t worth the aggravation HSN can dole out. It would be one thing if someone would have taken my call yesterday but I was told I could only PM them. And then because I could see the pictures on my computer, I didn’t know until today they really did it. But with getting furious with HSN, I really took my anger out on all of you with what I said and for that, again, I am sorry.
I have sent them a request to tell me what exactly the policy is and how long this “waiting for approval” for posting will be for. Of course I have heard nothing. Today just wasn’t a day so maybe tomorrow I will feel better and try and get some answers.
I just don’t want to leave anyone hanging and again, I am really sorry for just feeling like giving up on everything and then so many of you wrote back worried. I could give up on HSN but I could never give up on all the wonderful people here in JPA.
I am still pretty pieved about this whole thing but I can deal with it. I feel sorry for all of you having empty boxes to look at! You guys will be the first to hear if I ever get an answer as to how long this is going to last.
Thank you all for you support and caring. And with that, I hope you all have a wonderful night and…..
