Backgammon High Scores

What is the secret to getting these higher scores of 600+?  The highest I have been able to get is around 300, and I noticed some people are able to get more than double that.  Is there a special time or day to play to get double or tripple scores, or do some players get special privileges of their scores automatically doubling or tripling?  Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
