I’m so ready! I got all of my shopping done throughout the year. Everything has been wrapped and sorted for several weeks now.
What really helped me get ready this year was that I made a sheet to track gifts. I made sections for birthdays, which I put in order of when they occur. I also made a section for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas. Then I listed all the names for people I wanted to buy for each occasion. As I found gifts I recorded what I bought, where I bought it, and how much I paid. So for next year I have a better budgeting plan based on what I spent this past year. Now I just keep an eye out whenever I’m shopping for gifts and I already have a few things for next year’s occasions :catvery-happy:
I will say that I no longer worry about doing much decorating. I used to get all stressed about it, but I’ve discovered it just doesn’t work for our family. We don’t have much room to store the decorations and there isn’t a good spot to put a full sized tree, and we have 6 pets we have to keep from destrying things, so I kind of gave up. We put up a little mini tree, a special mouse I loved as a kid, and a little felt tree on the wall that my kids can decorate and move around the little pieces. I’m learning to enjoy everyone else’s lights and decorations instead and doing things like making extra fancy cocoa to make us feel festive.
Oh, here’s a fun fancy cocoa idea for everyone. Make your cocoa, top with whipped cream. Then crush a candy cane in a bag (so as not to make a mess). Sprinkle the candy cane bits on the whipped cream. For a finishing touch take a vegetable peeler to a chocolate bar to get pretty little chocolate shavings as a final topping. Tah Dah!
