John after the big cleanup I usually add more color changing solar lights. They work all year round and compliment all the seasons. It sets the house off from the whole neigherhood

Right now..I’m thinking a bulldozer and 6 trucks full of cement!..LOL
That might help the 2 acres of small gardens here..Then there are 2 acres of pines trees..not much to do there..
Unless John would like to come here to help..My honey is useless when it comes to outside stuff…Inside stuff for that mtter too!…I’m getting to old for this stuff..
No gardeners to hire here..

….PAY THE LAWN MAITENANCE BILL! :womanlol: LIVE IN CONDO…TRIED FLOWERS ALONG PATH TO ENTRYWAY-GOT A ‘NOTICE’….PUT SOLAR LIGHTS TO LIGHT PATH….ANOTHER ‘NOTICE’ :womanfrustrated: SO, MADE MY OWN MINI ‘GARDEN / TRELLIS’ BEHIND (on my patio) AND MAINTAIN MYSELF, SO FAR, NO NOTICE…WE’LL SEE! :womanvery-happy:

Send the hubby out to clean out flower beds, put new mulch down, and clip back all the shrubs. Yup I love my outside to look nice just don’t like to do it myself!!:womanlol:

I love to go to our neighborhood garden store and look for pretty annuals and perennials. Usually we’ll plant them in our small garden area or directly into pots. We try to prevent weeds by using a weed preventer but it never seems to work. My husband and I are always pulling weeds and spraying.
This year we’ll probably have to hire someone to put down new mulch for us. It’s too big of a job for either one of us to do anymore. We’ll also be looking for some new plants to replace ones that weren’t doing well, on the western exposure.
If something needs trimming and it’s not too tall we’ll do that too.

I let everything grow wild and unwatered until I receive a notice from my City Code Enforcement office. Usually my neighbor’s brothercleans up my front yard for about $60, but he was laid up. So this year I had to use the guy who maintains several of my neighbors’ properties. 2 fat old guys with a truck, 2 1/2 hours, $500. They did a great job, but I was horrified at the cost! I’ve wasted my life on trivial pursuits; had I become a gardener, I could enjoy a rich retirement and afford to shop at HSN. 🙁

WELCOME JOHN!
What I do to spruce up my yard for Spring:
1) Fertilize
2) Check all my lawn equipment…lawnmower, weed eater,
blower, and tools.
3) Mow lawn over 5acres
4) Prune
5) Trim shrubs
6) Trim palm trees
7) Remove last year’s annuals to make room for new ones
8) Cut back my perennials so they can be ready for new
growth
9) Edging the bed and putting new mulch down
10) Check the irrigation system
Well John, that’s it for now. Have I forgotten anything? I’m already tired and haven’t started….lol….:womanlol:
HAPPY SPRING, 2016! :womanwink:

Hi. Re seed my yard. Add more colors of plants so when you are sad you see that and smile. All the worries disappear. Add different color of roses in my back yard what a beautiful site that would be. Tori

What I’d like to do is basically what everyone else mentioned, but am disabled right now and cannot afford to pay any one. Hubby will only mow our half acre yard once every two weeks. He works out of town and is only home weekends, so he says mowing is enough for him. He needs a day off to recooperate before having to go back to work for 5 – 10 hr shifts.

Hi John, we have a company get the huge lawn ready, since my husband a veteran no longer can be doing his favorite past time. I go to a nursery and get the flowers i can not kill. We have so much red clay here and i do have some small flower beds. I love to get hanging baskets and some other flowers i did not destroy. I love my great murtle trees and i will replace the roses, most of them went and never came back. I have a green thumb for the indoor plants, but the out door was my husband magic hands. Georgia weather can be brutal with the scorching heat!

John… We’re on 2-1/2 acres up in the mountains. Our ‘yard’, so-to-speak, backs-up to National Forest. All I do is scatter about a ton of Wildflower Seed over our property, *lol* . By Spring-time, it looks like our house is in the middle of a Meadow… beautiful!
Other than that, we’ve got Pine Trees all over the place, so, I just have to replant the flowers in our Window Boxes all around the house… easy, peasy. Out of the four Window Boxes on the West wall, two are dedicated to Herbs. At Spring-time, after the last Frost, I replant all the Herbs too since they never make it thru the freeze of Winter.

Hi John, Since your visit last year, we’ve turned our yard into an outdoor living space thanks to many HGTV products. My favorite is the solar lamp posts with planter rings. I bought 2 and hope to buy 2 more when they are back in stock. This year, all i have to do is plant flowers and watch for more pretty, but functional products to add to our outdoor family room.
