I started working on my felt bear
Hi everyone,
I mentioned in my last post that I was planning on cutting out my felt bear with my Brother Scan N Cut.
I worked on cutting the pieces last night and thought I would show them to you. I have not started sewing this project yet but hopefully today I will make some progress on it. Snow day so lots of snow shoveling at my house.
First up is a pictures of the tools I used to create my bear.
In this picture you are looking at my 12×12 standard scan n cut mat. The deep cut blade and holder and the High tack fabric support sheet, erasable pen set for drawing out sewing lines on fabric, felt fabric for project. Dark brown for the bear, Black for the eyes and nose and tan for the foot pads and belly circle, out line of the ears.
Next picture is of the dark brown felt place on to the standard cut mat after I applied the high tack fabric support sheet and I am getting ready to draw out the 1/4 inch line.
Next picture is of the 1/4 inch sewing lines getting selected to drawn on to the felt fabric.
Next is a picture of lines being drawn on the fabric using the pen holder and the pen.
Next is a picture of the 1/4 inch line drawn on to the fabric and the inner sew line of the bear. The line is a little
light because the pen is blue and the fabric is darker then the pen but you can see it.
Next picture up is of the bears cut out. I had to do two pieces front and back. I then ironed them after they were cut. hence losing my cut line.
Next picture is of the twelve pieces that I will use to make this bear. I also cut out a red bow tie to add a little something to his chest area.
the next picture is of the belly circle that cut out.
then a picture of after I removed the felt.
As you see my mat at this point is a mess from all the felt cutting. I could have avoided this by using quick fuse to iron on the back of my bear to get a cleaner cut. When I am done cutting with the mat I will just pull off the High tack fabric support sheet and it will be good to go again.

I am really not finished with these paintings I still have to add in more detail to the squirrel and add more fall colors to the leaves on the trees and detail to the pumpkin. Just to give you all an idea. When I get my bear sewed I will post it up. Hopefully today but no promised cause I have a lot of snow to help with the shoveling.

Thank you both for stopping in and seeing the little bear finished.
Yes I do have a picture of my Money Charm doll. I also made him from my SNC designs he is really the shape of a ginger bread man. I did it as a goof for a friend’s birthday. I made a doll of her x so she good stick pins in it.:smileyhappy:
Then I decided to make a money doll charm for me but no pins. Just four leaf clovers and the money sign and out of green felt. and a green bow at its neck. I used an iron on glitter transfer for the money signs and four leaf clovers that took me about two hours between to dolls to make.
I am thinking if one plays bingo it might be something to take along for the night with the other lucky charms. I do not play bingo and so far I have found some lose change on the floor:smileyhappy:
that is about as much money as this little guy has brought me.lololo:smileyhappy:
Anyway it is fun making this silly stuff.:smileyhappy:
yes this is just for me anyway just to challenge myself and see how far I can go with my snc. I still have a long way to go as much as I have done with it I feel I am still in the learning stage.
Here he is
.
Thanks for stopping in now it is time to clean up the mess.

Hi eveyone,
Well here I am again.:smileyhappy:the little bear is done:smileyhappy: Sewed together and stuffed and hand sewn closed.
Well I did have a few little snags while sewing like my thread bobbin not wanting to work properly and having to pull some threads and start over again. But at the end of the day it worked out pretty good.:smileyhappy:
I accomplished what I started out by separating one little bear from a banner of bears and making a tangible item out it. Here he is all finished. I sewed down the ears and did not stuff them. I think they came out pretty good.
Hope you all like him sorry for taking so long to finish this project up. He was not as easy as my little money charm doll to make but it is done now. :smileyhappy:

Ok everyone :smileyhappy:
I am starting to sew the bear together. At this point the bear is 9″x9″ and if I do my 1/4″ sew then it should be 83/4″ =8.75 x83/4 or 8.75×8.75. we will see. I did get my roast on potatoes and carrots peeled and ready to go.
Here are few pictures of the foot that I am using and the bear under the pressure foot and now ready.
I use my straight 1/4″ foot to make sure I am staying on the 1/4 inch line but that does not mean that I will. Here is hoping.:smileyhappy:
Pictures here.
1/4 inch foot on machine.
Here is the bear set up to sew.

I am here now finally.
I have been working on the bear sewed all the little parts on and yes
He is now ready to be sewn together and stuffed.
and Thank you I am like it better with the full ear instead of the little outline ear.
I did miss a little bit on the belly piece with the sewing. I will say for me trying to do a satin or applique stitch it is ok. I will also say I have never sewn such tiny stitches. It is not perfect but that is ok.:smileyhappy:
I used my singer Heavy duty sewing machine that I purchased here at HSN.
I use the button foot to sew on the little eyes nose and bow tie. Black and red thread.
I used the satin foot to sew around the the belly and the ears and the foot pads. Taupe thread.
I will be sewing a 1/4 inch around the bear to stitch him together. Therefore some of the foot pads and ears should be sewn in to the seam. I will leave an open on the side to turn the bear right side out as he will be sewn in side out. Then I will stuff him and hand sew the opening closed.
I will use the all purpose foot to sew the bear together. that will be hopefully tomorrow.
With that said there will be 4-8 inches of snow to shovel too between tomorrow and Monday night.
Here are a few pictures.
the little pieces sew on as explained above
Here is my sewing machine and pictures of feet used. the button foot is on the machine.
Ok Guys I am tired and have to stop now. Thank you all for stopping in to check on the progress.:smileyhappy:

Hi friends,
I am still at it and made a few changes. I changed the ear section from just the small out line to a full inside section. what I did was cut the ears off my copy paper print and colored them in with a red color pencil so that they would show up in my scan n cut. I then used my photo copy mat and scanned them in followed direction and then cut them out. Here are pictures of the result
I also decide to use fusible web to iron to the ears and belly and paws. I have not ironed it on yet but plan on doing that after posting this up. Here is a pic of the fusable for the belly of the bear.
I pulled off the High tack fabric support sheet and here is my mat ready to go the next time.
I see my ceiling fan light reflection along with a reflection of my shadow snapping this picture:smileyhappy:
I am off to start iron on the fusible web. Then I think I will brave it and start sewing. Wish me luck.:smileyhappy:

Your bear is adorable and I love the fall paintings! Thanks so much for the informative posts and pictures. I think i should also say Thank You to DubuqueRams and VelveteenRabbit7 for coaxing you back to the forum. I was going to save this news until I had some examples to post, but I bought the Scan N Cut and got it 2 days ago! I’ve been babysitting so I have only had time to take it out of the box! I was leaning toward a Silhouette Cameo and even had it in my cart, I was only waiting to be within 30 days of Craft Day. When I saw your most recent posts, I decided to take another look at the SnC and decided I would go with it. So you may want to brace yourself for lots of questions!LOL. Your friend, Possum29.
