First Alert 10 year battery Smoke Alarm

This was just on as special with limited quantities, but I was glad to be remindered. It really is worth while to pay a bit more for the sealed 10yr battery. There is nothing worse than the chirp if you forget to change the battery every year. When you consider the price of the annual replacement batteries, the older technolgy with annual battery replacement costs more!

They also mentioned that these gadgets are supposed to be totally replaced after 10yrs. How many remember to do that?

I have never heard of these before. Good idea for homeowners who do not already have a smoke alarm hardwired in. I live in an apartment that does, so we still have to change the backup batteries, but, I rest assured knowing have smoke alarms that are loud, and in 3 locations, one goes off, they ALL go off at the same time. The complex also recently added wireless carbon monoide detectors, which I was happy about as well, as I had almost purchased one on my own!

I wonder if this 10 year model has a chirp alarm or something to tell the human that it is time to replace after the 10 years is up?
