Don’t Like Joy Mangano’s Huggable Hangers – Waste of Money
I would like to know how most of you feel about Joy Mangano’s huggable hangers. Why do so many rave about them??? I purchased 3 closets worth of hangers last year; it was a really big set of over 100 hangers and/or items in each box. I started with my 22 yr. old sons closet and found the clips for pants to be way to small to hold jeans or any pants. Could only use for summer shorts. The hangers can’t be used for cotton T-shirts or heavier things like jackets or sweat shirts. They would break too. I was hoping to have that perfect closet the way Joy shows it on TV. You can only use them for light weight things or open front tops. Trying to get a T-shirt on these hangers is a feat and struggle. His closet is still a mix of hangers for different types of clothes and fabric. I wish she wouldn’t tell us that we can have that perfect closet when she knows that her hangers don’t work for ALL types of fabric and clothes. [-x I have two boxes that I don’t plan on using; guess I will put them in my yardsale and continue to use my colored plastic hangers from 20 years ago.

I’m one of those people who likes to grab something and have it slip off the hanger. I don’t like having to adjust my hanger because there’s no slip and you have to mess with it to get the shoulders etc. on right. Big PITA. I bought one set to try and most of them have been broken, probably because I still grab and pull and pull hard because the hanger doesn’t let go. Lesson learned. Oh, and my closet looks fine and neat, without JM huggable hangers.

I love them , absolutely LOVE them . I only use her hangers .

I LOVE mine! Sorry you don’t admire them as much as I do. They are really NOT for heavyweight things, like you said. Sometimes, I use TWO to support something heavy, and that works pretty well. I LOVE the look of the closet with all one colored items. I use it for organization. You can use two different colors to make a distinction for two or more peoples’ clothes. Anyway, that’s my two cents
:manhappy: !! Happy shopping!!

I realize this is an older post but I must say Joy Mangano’s hangers really solved a problem for me. eight years ago due to life’s circumstances I had to move 3 additional people into my home. My home is older which means smaller closets. I was wondering how to handle this when I saw these hangers on HSN. I had to consolidate closets to accommodate everyone. I literally bought hundreds of these hangers. They did save room in the existing closets and everything was hung up and neat. I did have to purchase several free standing closets and I doubled and tripled the space in the children’s closets. They worked and are still working for me.

I love them and have converted all my closets except for coats. I do not use them for my heavy winter coats because they are too lightweight. I use them for everything else though mostly. My sweaters I fold and don’t hang up at all. I don’t use the clips much as I don’t wear a lot of skirts and have no need for them. All blouses, tops, pants are all on huggable hangers. I love them. Only a few over the years have broken…I am careful with them. You can’t be rough with them and pull on them, sit on them or step on them and expect them to hold up. I don’t buy the brass anymore as they do discolor and the silver metal is better. I’ve spend hundreds on them and would not be without. I think when people watch Joy she hypes it up so much that people think the product is going to be perfect. Well its not. Its very very good or she would not have sold as many. Its very popular if used correctly and better than most hangers. I hate the old plastic tube hangers with a passion.

I have the hangers but, I do treat them very, very gingerly.
Looking at the TS, I wanted to change my husband’s closet out as a Father’s Day gift but, decided not to after testing one of my hangers. I slowly twisted the hanger hook just like I saw Joy do on TV…the hanger hook broke the hanger and came right off in my hand.
I also wanted to finish my closet but, also decided aganist it. The colors are not consistance…my last order do not match the color of the hangers that I had already although, I ordered the same color. During the shipping of my last order the packaging did not hold the hangers tight enough…the hangers rubbed together during shipping and too many of the hanger had the velvet rubbed commpletely off in spots. I think the way they package the hangers for shipping needs to be better since they come all the way from China.
I will go to the HSN Outlet to find a great deals on the hangers so that I can examine them before I make my purchase.

Did anyone notice this thread is from 2012?
I have Joy’s hangers from over 10 years ago…I have Dennis Basso coats hanging on them, heavy leather & suede coats, my hubby’s suits….and they work great. BUT these are from over 10 years ago. I have seen recent posts where people have posted that the newer hangers aren’t as well made…I cannot speak to that…I do know that the hooks are not suppose to swivel…and that trying to turn them will make them loosen and fall out. But the couple that I have had break…like VelveteenRabbit were my fault…I also use them to hang dry clothes on. I have chocolate brown and sage…they have been colorfast for me too. They are all I have in all my closets.

I really like these hangers. I think the last set I bought was about 5 years ago and other than one or two (which were my fault ) haven’t had a problem with breakage. I also like that they are colorfast, I use them to hang dry clothes.

I love my hangers and haven’t had a problem with breakage. I’ve purchased them throughout the last ten years and redid my daughter’s closet as well. She loves them too and hasn’t had a problem either!

I love my hangers. One of my favorite items that I have purchased at HSN. I haven’t had any break yet and I have had them a couple of years. With that being said, I am pretty gentle with them. I have broke quite a few plastic ones though and will never go back to the wires and plastic. Love my hangers!

I LOVE LOVE my hangers, I own over one hundred and twenty-five and NEVER EVER have I had any issues with them. I hang sweaters, jeans, blazers and heavy winter weight dresses on them.

I am with you! These hangers are trash! My daughter bought me a large set as a gift. A guest gave me her coat to hang up when she arrived. I reached for a hanger and put her coat on it and hung it up and the hanger broke right in front of both of us. You cannot hang anything of any weight on them because the hangers come apart. you cannot change the position of the hook of the hanger because they snap right off in your hand. I am so displeased with this set of hangers it would take me all day to tell you all the complaints I have about them. I don’t understand is how so many people claim to love them so much!!!! I would advise anyone who is thinking about buying these hangers to go to Walmart, Kmart, Target or any other store to buy yourself some hangers. You will save yourself a lot of money and aggravation. And you won’t have to be picking your clothes up off the floor. What a RIP OFF!

I like my hangers. The hangers did not make room for a lot more clothing in my closet, but they do make my closet appear very neat and all my clothes stay on the hangers. I was so happy to finally be able to cut out all those little ribbons inside blouses and dresses that are used to wrap around other types of hangers so that the garments don’t fall off. Those same ribbons would always end up showing when I would wear the garment. Now it’s a non-issue, I cut all the ribbons out, use Joy’s hangers, and nothing ever falls off a hanger.

They are ok. They do break but they do make extra space and do not bleed color when wet and that’s a bonus to hang handwashables. They also do not make weird spaces in shoulders. I broke alot but they are so cheap replaced a few. Basically worth the space saving.

I like my hangers. They make my closet look so much nicer than it looked when I was using hangers from the dry cleaners. I just went to order some more of the shirt hangers and noticed that I can only get them with an equal number of suit hangers. I don’t use as many suit hangers. I really hope this changes. I also think that it would be great if she would offer a "slip" hanger for those items that we just want to "pull" off the hanger.
