Don’t Like Joy Mangano’s Huggable Hangers – Waste of Money
I would like to know how most of you feel about Joy Mangano’s huggable hangers. Why do so many rave about them??? I purchased 3 closets worth of hangers last year; it was a really big set of over 100 hangers and/or items in each box. I started with my 22 yr. old sons closet and found the clips for pants to be way to small to hold jeans or any pants. Could only use for summer shorts. The hangers can’t be used for cotton T-shirts or heavier things like jackets or sweat shirts. They would break too. I was hoping to have that perfect closet the way Joy shows it on TV. You can only use them for light weight things or open front tops. Trying to get a T-shirt on these hangers is a feat and struggle. His closet is still a mix of hangers for different types of clothes and fabric. I wish she wouldn’t tell us that we can have that perfect closet when she knows that her hangers don’t work for ALL types of fabric and clothes. [-x I have two boxes that I don’t plan on using; guess I will put them in my yardsale and continue to use my colored plastic hangers from 20 years ago.

Absolute garbage. My hangers broke and my plastic jewelry organizer of hers came with one of the fasteners on backwards (the snap thing) so I couldn’t close it. It’s cheap and junky. Never again will I purchase anything of hers.

I had a similar experience to yours. My hangers broke – absolute garbage. The top metal piece broke off from the rest of the hanger and I don’t think I had put anything heavy on it at all. had bought a set of hangers that included the plastic hanging jewelry organizer which came with one of the fasteners on backwards so I couldn’t close it. Absolute garbage. I’ll never buy her products again.

I have bought hundreds of Joy’s hangers in the last few years and NONE have broken! I own the coral beach color and just ordered another 80 last month, they match exactly the ones that I bought 3 years ago.
I just wahed winter sweaters and hung them up wet, no bending or breaking. Thank you Joy.

:mansurprised:
I received a set as a gift years ago and I think they are GREAT! A man 6’3 heavy suits, they work! I see them in the high end stores. No plastic for me. Give them a chance:smileywink:

I like the hh. Have given them as gifts. I put wet clothes on them. Perfectly fine. Heavy coats. Ok.

I love Joy’s hangers.I have ones I ordered several yrs ago and some recently and all of them work perfect for me.
All of my closets have ONLY her hangers and so far,I have not had any to break ,even those with coats and suits hung on them.:womanvery-happy:
I noticed this is a thread from over 2 yrs ago but decided to reply anyway since others have.:womanwink:
So sorry some have not had the good luck with them that I have had.

I love Joy’s hangers and have had no problems with them. However, I would love to see Joy puy together a set using only shirt hangers. These are the ones I use the most and love. I would definiately buy these.

The benefit and the cost are Exaggerated.

I think they are great for dresses, button shirts, jackets, clipping scarves, and many things like that but you are right about the t-shirts. T-shirts don’t work with them. The hangers are too wide/long and it’s almost impossible to get them on the hanger and when you do, you have to stretch the shirt out of shape. No one wants to try and remove it from the hanger once it’s on either.
I wish Joy would make tshirt hangers to go with the others. They need to be smaller and less wide hangers. The material on the hanger is great and really holds clothes on but the size of it is just a huge problem for thirts. Not everyone is a fashionesta. Some of us like to hang up our t’s and have more of them than other clothes.

I bought some a couple years ago. None have broken and clothes do not slide off. I am sorry you are having problems with them.

I have tons of them and love them all! I have my husbands heavy suit jackets hanging on them and all of his work clothes and coats and everything is just fine. Really I have all of my closets with mostly Joy’s hangers and nothing else.

I bought a bunch in black, on my lighter colored clothes it leaves black fuzz on them, and they are not heavy duty, I have had a lot break on me….

I have a love/hate relationship with Joy’s huggable hangers. They do save space in the closet, but I’ve had a couple of them break, and in the last batch, I’ve had clothes slide off. I’m afraid the quality may have gone downhill since the originals first debuted.

There seem to be 2 different versions. One is richly colored and velvety. The other is rough, scuffed and lower quality. I ordered many and received both versions. It’s like Joy’s hangers have been hacked and some are "knock offs. But they all ship from HSN. I know I’m disappointed. I waited for years to finally get a genuine JOY closet and now she seems to have sold out on us. I just wish she would at least respond to us and explain or make it right.

I also (almost) love my hangers. There’s only one improvement I can think of and that would be to have the hooks flexible so they would twist left to right.
