Don’t Like Joy Mangano’s Huggable Hangers – Waste of Money
I would like to know how most of you feel about Joy Mangano’s huggable hangers. Why do so many rave about them??? I purchased 3 closets worth of hangers last year; it was a really big set of over 100 hangers and/or items in each box. I started with my 22 yr. old sons closet and found the clips for pants to be way to small to hold jeans or any pants. Could only use for summer shorts. The hangers can’t be used for cotton T-shirts or heavier things like jackets or sweat shirts. They would break too. I was hoping to have that perfect closet the way Joy shows it on TV. You can only use them for light weight things or open front tops. Trying to get a T-shirt on these hangers is a feat and struggle. His closet is still a mix of hangers for different types of clothes and fabric. I wish she wouldn’t tell us that we can have that perfect closet when she knows that her hangers don’t work for ALL types of fabric and clothes. [-x I have two boxes that I don’t plan on using; guess I will put them in my yardsale and continue to use my colored plastic hangers from 20 years ago.

I don’t know. I LOVE my huggable hangers and that’s the only way I can even fit all my clothes into the smallish closet that I have. Before them, the closet was bursting at the seams. True, you can’t really hang dress pants on those clips; I hang all of mine over the bar. I never attempt to hang jeans on any hangers, so can’t tell. I also do not, as a general rule, hang my cotton tees over hangers- only some of the more valuable ones, like my Dr. Who shirt, etc. Also, I would not hang a heavy winter coat on them. Many of my regular blazers do hang on my huggable hangers (the most expensive ones I still hang on the big hanger with special shoulder thing). I hang a few of my son’s shirts on HH, and he came back asking me for “more of those fuzzy hangers please.” I can’t even imagine now using anything other than HH for anything other than maybe some winter coats or something.

I think huggable hangers are just OK. They are good for light weight woven tops and shirts. I agree with the poster who says they are not good for cotton knit shirts and T shirts. My husband wears a lot of knit shirts with collars during the summer. It drives me nuts trying to put them on a huggable type hanger. It takes many many tries and a lot of moving and wiggling around to get the shoulder seams lined up properly with the huggables. The ‘stickiness’ of the hangers catches on the knit shirts constantly and makes it a real pain to use. I have gone back to using plastic tube hangers for the knit shirts.
I bought a set of several dozen huggables many years ago. I guess about half of them have broken now. With some, the hook just pulled out from the hanger. With others, the hanger itself just broke – this happened mainly with the suit hangers that had the extra piece at the bottom. The shirt hangers have not broken as much. I have replaced some of the broken ones with hangers from Walmart and from Home Goods stores. They are every bit as good as the huggables and about 1/2 the price.

I have had my huggable hangers for about 4 years and never have had one break.,
and Im not careful I have dropped on the floor constantly. We are in Illinois so we have big bulky winter coats to hang up and they are no problem.
th closet room I now have is twice what it was before and everything is neat, whats not to like? -
My older Huggable Hangers have held up well. It’s the newer ones, ordered within the last year, that I had to return due to excessive breakage. I wrote of my most recent experience on a similar thread a few weeks ago, but my post was moved to archives just as Joy showed up with a Huggable Hangers TS. Go figure.

No reason to yell. Sure, you can buy them at other stores as well. (but only in limited colors). Still, why the all-caps yelling?

absolutely love her hangers…. and for me, the copies just dont hold up as well. i buy them almost every time she is on. i like to color coordinate depending on which closet they will be used in. each person in my household has a separate color AND i recently started buying them for our beach home.
no more wire hangers….. EVER. ;)….. actually no other hanger other than joys!!

I have been buying Huggable Hangers for at least eight years and have probably five hundred of them. Yes, I have had some where the brass hardware has come out of the hanger itself, and I have had one hanger break. Trust me, I am not easy on them, either. I have found they work well for me, and do work well with my heavy coats, although sometimes they do tend to bow a little when I am shoving them into my closet. but I’ve never had one break that way.
I noticed a couple years back the hangers must have been put in the bags without drying completely as they stuck together. There were many complaints on here about them sticking together, but it appeared that Joy fixed this issue.
HHs are the only product I will buy from Joy. I haven’t had much luck with her luggage or a couple other products I bought. =h1>

Mine that I bought a couple of months ago were slightly s t u c k (jeez….really HSN, I cannot use that word without spacing it out?) together, but not too badly. I really like mine. If the hanger part comes out of the plastic, I will try superglue in the hole, but so far so good. The only thing that peeves me off is I ordered them in the bright green (no emerald green available at the time), and ever since, I have been looking for the bright green to get more, but no luck. The only set left with bright green in it is a large set that I really don’t need, AND HSN just raised the price on the set from $49.95 to $60.00! What the hay HSN?! And Joy, who the heck discontinues a hanger color that is clearly popular and is still selling? Thanks for nothing. I do not want to mix colors either.

Sadly I had to stop purchasing the hangers. The last two orders were varied versions of color, didn’t match original color and broke. They are now so thin and not made well. The handles come out, bend and the hanger part warps. This is what happens when a company becomes rich and successful I guess….mass marketing can ruin quality. Is so sad because the original were like no other. To you who love these still, I’m glad….maybe the ones some of us are getting were made in different factory.

I love them have over a hundred and maybe two have broken. I do not use them with coats and outerwear. I could see where they might be hard with cotton t shirts. I usually fold those and fold most of my sweaters. They have saved so much room in my closet. Love.

My mom still has light blue ones she purchased maybe 5 years ago via hsn. Some are in my closet and I just placed an order for a small set of Hot Hot Pink. 1 broke and was replaced in the time we’ve had them. I have winter coats on these hangers. I’m hoping my new ones last just as long as these we currently have.

I have huggables from many years ago…I have faux furs coats hanging on them, leather coats of my hubby’s, all hold up well. I see that the people that complain about them are ones that have bought newer sets. Maybe the quality has changed. I have not bought any more for that reason. But my older sets, from 6-7 years ago are great and going strong. Love them.

I’ve had several break under the weight of winter coats & jeans. Maybe JM should add an "industrial strength" model to her line. Make them at least 3 times thicker and a few inches longer to hold things like men’s large & heavy coats/jeans/suits. I bet she’d sell a million of them.
