Don’t Like Joy Mangano’s Huggable Hangers – Waste of Money
I would like to know how most of you feel about Joy Mangano’s huggable hangers. Why do so many rave about them??? I purchased 3 closets worth of hangers last year; it was a really big set of over 100 hangers and/or items in each box. I started with my 22 yr. old sons closet and found the clips for pants to be way to small to hold jeans or any pants. Could only use for summer shorts. The hangers can’t be used for cotton T-shirts or heavier things like jackets or sweat shirts. They would break too. I was hoping to have that perfect closet the way Joy shows it on TV. You can only use them for light weight things or open front tops. Trying to get a T-shirt on these hangers is a feat and struggle. His closet is still a mix of hangers for different types of clothes and fabric. I wish she wouldn’t tell us that we can have that perfect closet when she knows that her hangers don’t work for ALL types of fabric and clothes. [-x I have two boxes that I don’t plan on using; guess I will put them in my yardsale and continue to use my colored plastic hangers from 20 years ago.

I purchased many sets of the hangers. At first I loved them. Then I saw the heavy winter coats that we wear here in New England tend to break or bend the hangers. Wool, parkas, peacoats, a variety of sizes and materials. I have lost probably 6 over the last couple of years. I have also had some just break in half. No joke. I have bought a number of sets so it is hard to tell if it was a problem with one batch but I own two different colors and they both have had the same problems. But I do continue to use the ones that I have purchased. I did pay for them after all. 🙂

The only item I liked of Joy’s were her hangers. Everything else I had ordered that she marketed, I sent back -poor quality, too heavy. I ordered the hangers years ago. Maybe as the years go by, the quality suffers.

, I purchased the hangers many years ago before Joy was so HSN engrained.
I think the older ones were better quality. Once I purchased the newer hangers and some breakage occured, there was a difference. Now I wont buy anything from Joy.

NO WIRE or plastic HANGERS in my home. Jus Joy M. in three closets. All of my clothes are aranged by color. It is neat and pretty. I love them and would not trade them.

I purchased enough last January to redo the entire closet after hearing Joy rave about how much more space you would have using her hangars. What a huge disappointment! My closet is just as packed as it was before. You may gain space if you have nothing but silk blouses hanging in there, but you gain nothing if your clothes are bulkier winter clothing, my husbands suits etc. I will not waste anymore money on her hangars.

I’m happy with mine. I’ve got her hangers ranging from over 10 or more years ago to some purchased last year.

I was gifted Ms. Mangano’s hangers years ago and they were the hangers where each hanger
had a small hook extending outwards so you could attach another hanger to it. I was able to attach 6 hangers and they worked great, still do and and I really love those hangers..
I was gifted enough to do 4 large closets, but when I wanted more Ms. Mangano offered cheaply made hangers and after reading the reviews I ended up buying elsewhere, and they are thin strong velvet hangers (without the attachment hook), but they are working out well .
I have never broken any of those Mangano huggable hangers, or had any problems with those dye colors running off ruining my clothes, so to current date they are strong and I am totally satisfied.
From what I read I believe Ms. Mangano changed her production and her newer hangers are not so strong, and probably not well made, so I would not wish to purchase any for myself, or gift any to others.

I heard Joy say on air that the hangers don’t break. This isn’t true. I’ve had a few break. A couple of years ago I tried to get a replacement (I didn’t contact HSN, but Joy’s website) and they said they couldn’t replace it. Just my experience.

For me, I wanted to hang my t shirts but as you said they do not work because they are too large and you have to stretch the shirt out. I wish she would make tshirt hangers. I like the colors. I like the way clothes cling to the hanger. But they are too large for tshirts or shirts without buttons.
These work nicely if you have suits and buttoned clothing or dresses with zippers I think, but I just want to hang up my ts…

I am surprised to hear so many negative reviews. my experience with the hangers is the complete opposite . I am loving them and I bought her last TSV with hundreds of hangers and matching totes. I got the beige color. Now my clothes do not fall off. I like that the hangers are skinny so I have more room in the closet. The only issue I can see is Some sweaters stick while trying to put on the hanger. I feel like I’ve got a great deal. So far I’ve never had a handle break and when I first started using them I didn’t realize that the hanger top did move. I was bummed that I couldn’t turn it either way but one day I realized I wasn’t pushing hard enough to turn it . So far so good . I have really enjoyed mine . Guess I got a good batch. Sorry to hear so many others aren’t happy .

Love them! Yes, there was a little sticking with a few of the hangers, but still not bad. Yes a little bit of discoloring, but given they are velvet it makes sense. No problem hanging any shirts, pants or dresses. Have not hung any coats or jackets … But in Louisiana we don’t need them much.

I have hung up a few things, but having just received them this evening, I will have a better feel of them after a couple of days. Didn’t put any t-shirts on them, but did hang my slinky mock turtle necks and had no problem whatsoever. Plus it’s always been a habit of mine to slid the hanger up the shirt from the inside if the neck is small. I’m excited about recreating my closet with these! I will say the over the door hook had a little bit of velvet pushed up but it’s not bad. I love the under the bed boxes and am anxious to see how I’m going to use them. Btw I ordered the purple orchid with the copper wire hook. I also do wish the hooks would rotate, but I don’t mind them as they are. I did test and put a very light garment that falls off all my hangers. I put it on one of the huggable hangers and even swung it around but it did not move. That’s nice!
Will report as to how they are holding up sometime later. 🙂

I just received my first box f hangers. Always wanted them and finally am trying them. I noticed that tonight they are cheaper than what I purchased them for last week. Hoping I get credit, as I did put a post about it in Customer service.

I had a few that broke and also had a few problems with a few of her items. You can get replacements from her. I just took a pic of the items and emailed them to them and it was no problem. They have great customer service!

I think it must be hit and miss. I bought mine several years ago and they were terrible. The hooks broke off and my closet ended up being a graveyard at the bottom. I threw them all out. Went to a store, bought another set, a lot cheaper and they have lasted up until now. The hooks are sturdier and screwed in tight and have never broken off. The Huggable Hungers I only used them for light clothing and tops and they still broke off. Either you get a good batch or you don’t, probably why the different reviews, and many people write reviews when they receive them. I wait several months before I write reviews on a product.
