What will you hand out for trick or treat?

Goodness, they must have brought them in by bus.  We had 50 bags and had to cute the porch light off at 7:45.  Hope no one else shows up.  They will have to get an apple.  That’s like socks for Christmas.

I live in a retirement community so it’s Depends, Ben Gay and Fixodent that I hand out! :smileylol:

I go to the warehouse club and buy a merchant size box of full size candy bars. We’ve been doing it for so many years, the kids expect a full size candy bar at our house. I also buy individual packs of Gold Fish Crackers for the toddlers. I understand many kids have allergies, but I am not going to change from the tradition of candy. My son had severe allergies and we were diligent about what went into his loot bag. He understood everything about his allergies and wasn’t embarrassed in the least. I think we encountered one house who gave out Reese Peanut Butter Cups. My son said “no thank you, I have a peanut allergy.” The lady felt so bad, she ran into the house and put a $1.00 in his bag. It wasn’t necessary but a very nice gesture. I heard on the news they are selling turquoise pumpkins to symbolize your house is candy free. I have too many wonderful memories of circling the neighborhood twice and dumping my candy out on the floor to swap with my siblings and friends to hand out anything other than candy. 

I think it’s sweet that you played along with your neighbor’s son. If he went through all the trouble of changing costumes, obviously the Beanie Baby meant a lot to him. It’s nice to know he appreciated your treat. 

I’ll just give out something chocolate—that’s what parents like to  “steal” One year my kid came home with a plastic bag of home-made cookies with a business card stapled on it, Not sure if she was trying to drum up business or just wanted the parents to know who had made the cookies.                                   

Snacks to be given out on Halloween. I go to a snack distributor and buy 14 cases. We get so many trick or treaters!

When we use to give out treats its either fruits like apples and oranges or bubble gum and chocolates:)

We live in an apartment don’t have any children visits:)

My youngest picks out the candy as the kids talk about this for weeks at school and he knows what’s “in” candy wise.

I always purchase little organic fruit gummies for the little kids (parents believe these are healthier so… why not) as well as for those with nut allergies. Have to say… in 19 years of giving out candy, no one has ever said to me “I can’t have nuts”.  I often wonder how much candy gets tossed in the garbage when those who do have one get home and the parents go through the bag.

hi my friend ? i keep candy separate and ask the kids if they can have chocolate or nuts.  i usually have chocolate, chocolate with nuts or peanut butter, and something like sour patch kids.  the sour patch kids are a big hit. i never understand why kids like sour stuff so much, but it makes it easy.  

if i have classroom stuff like pencils, stencils, stickers, games, books, etc i’ll will give that to the right age groups. i give candy with that stuff, too. you must have had a TON of beanie babies :catvery-happy:

from what i understand, the kids are pretty good about knowing what to eat, and the really young kids have their cady checked out by a parent.  it works out ok in my neighborhood.

You all are starting to get me in the spirit of Halloween.  Here’s a funny question.  Does anyone else ever get the kid that has two bags and says can he have an extra one for his sister who is sick?  When we lived in NC that happened and when we moved to GA it happened.  One year I asked the kid how his sister was doing and he laughed and said not so good, some candy might make her feel better.  I haven’t seen him in a couple of years so maybe he grew up.  Hope the sister grew up happy and healthy, too, lol.

We give out a variety of fun-sized chocolate candy bars. My 5 year old granddaughter is an expert on candy, so she helps me buy the good stuff. I also but lollipops for those who have food allergies.

you ladies rock!!! from the beanie baby ideas to the doggie goodie bags to dressing up in orange leather- just utterly fabulous!!! as for my household, we just went to cvs this morning and got some candy. when i was growing up, my neighborhood was rockin’. we live in the old italian section of town. i remember going to the homes of family and friends equipped with large pillow cases all the way into the early nightfall. however, i must say that when i was really small, i especially loved how certain of our friends and family used to call us up wanting my mom to take me over to their house before evening so that they could see me in my costume. i still remember the sentiment to this day. i wish i still had friends and family that were so happy to see me like that. oh, the nostaglia!!! love it. happy halloween everyone!!!  xoxo

It is very hard to know how many kids I will get – some years it is over a hundred and some years 50.  On a slow night, when it starts getting to be about 7:30 or so – the next bunch of kids are going to really make out!  

I really decorate the front of my house with all kinds of stuff including the big blow ups (cute ones – not scary ones).  I hand out the miniture bags of chips with 2 bite size candy bars.  

I figure they can use the chips for school lunch and Halloween is for kids and kids want candy!   If you’re a really cute kid – you’re probably going to get more!  I’m a sucker for an adorable little one!  

What will I hand out for Halloween:  Well, we make an all day event.  It’s Halloween and my grandson’s birthday.  We gather early and make goody bags filled with goodies.  Then when the evening event happens, all the children trick-r-treating will get, popcorn balls, granola bars, gummi bears, fruit roll-ups, fruit individual packages, fruit boxed drinks (such as Capri, etc.), pencils, coloring books, mini boxes of crayons, silly putty, halloween jewelry for boy or girl, wax lips, stickers, rub on tatoos, halloween rubber stamps, yo-yos, kazoos, mini play-dough, etc. the list goes on and on.  All the children have such a wonderful time.  After the event of Halloween and the crowd has diminished, we load up the utility trailer filled with fresh hay and blankets and go ride around neighborhoods.  We sing, laugh, tell stories, and talk.  Really a GREAT TIME!  HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL!  BE SAFE!

I am giving out the little candy bars and lollipops. I hope the candy will last i have grandkids :womanlol:
