What happens when you receive something that has been shipped?

I got a call today from a company NVC freight outsourced their delivery from HSN to. This company told me the treadmill I purchased is just under 200 pounds. The truck doesn’t have a lift gate, so I will have to have someone help get the item from the truck. They won’t be able to get it into the house. I was ok with this. If they can just bring it to the garage that’s at the end of my drive, I’ll try to get some people to help me get it in the house. Then they tell me they won’t even bring it to my driveway. Shipping is "curbside" per the HSN customer service supervisor. Wow. So if I buy a purse can I expect the same thing? I read the terms of shipping… Yeah. Can’t find anything that says I can expect to have a 200 treadmill dropped off on the road… Between the hours of 12 and 4… Of course, I have to help them put it on the street because of the lift gate issue too. Five phone calls later, I’m still being told this is acceptable. Is this how shipping works for everyone? Because I couldn’t find it defined differently for a treadmill versus a handbag.
