Weight Watchers
Back in the 90’s I lost almost 30 lbs on weight watchers and kept it off for many years. However in the last few I have managed to gain it back lol. I am a lifetime member and I am starting the meetings again on Mon. I am very social so I love the meetings.

My sister joined WW for health reasons and has lost over 25 lbs. since January. I was thin all my life until I had major surgery, and since then I’ve gained a size even though I was eating the same things. I’ve thought about joining WW myself, but the cost is what’s making me hesitate. I’ve been dieting on my own since Jan. and have lost a few pounds, but I’d like to lose at least 8 more to get to the size where I’m most comfortable. I’ve given up fast food, sweets, sodas, ice cream, cookies, chips, etc. and try to be more active, so you’d think I’d be dropping weight faster, but I’m not. Sighhh… I’m about to give up and just enjoy food again. My trouble is I have no life outside my house and the refrigerator and pantry are my best friends. They’re always there. :womantongue:
I wish you great success in your weight loss endeavors. Why do you like Weight Watchers? What don’t you like about it?

Hi FLyby, I really enjoyed the program and was succesful. I believe much of it was due to me doing the program with two co workers and the weekly weighins. I loved seeing the chart every week. Plus I was determined to loose the weight. I believe the average weight loss is 2 to 3 pounds per week. I remember drinking a lot of water. I had water with me wherever I went. I also walked a lot. Thank you for wishing me success. Maybe I will post updates.

Best of luck to you Sunshine8075. So many of us here can relate to what you are going through.
Please do post updates of how you are doing. Maybe that will encourage some of us!

I have done WW for at least 20 years and had success with all of the programs until now. The newest program introduced this winter – Smart Points is way too restrictive for me. Previous programs you could always make room for a snack or figure out what to do in you went on vacation to stay on program. Now the points for anything with sugar are so sky high it’s awful. I know we have to watch our sugar but it’s crazy. The penalty is so high that you count actually run out of points and eat under 1000 calories.
I am actually using Loseit.com. It’s a calorie counting site with no ads. There is even a group called WW Refugees in the commubity where people post. I miss the meetings but I’m not going to pay for something that I won’t do. Also – the WW website and app has been so wonky and customer service so bad (and outsourced) that people are leaving in droves

I started back doing this new WW, it’s taken a while but I eventually dropped 10lbs, still have another 15 to go, but I’m messing it all up right now as I’m visiting home in Ireland and eating way too much, will have to get back on the wagon when I return.

I used to be a huge WW proponent. I lost almost 40 lbs, but I was down to eating only 22 pts worth of food. I was hungry all the time. I eventually started eating again and gained my weight back.
I wanted to set my weight goal, but they set it for me. Their weight goal for me was unrealistic. I can’t possibly weigh what I was weighing when I was in my 20’s. I never reached my goal.
I loved the ladies that I met at my meetings. I loved the badges of encouragement WW awarded their members.
I don’t know how WW is today or what their rules are, but they should allow their members to set their own weight goal and sign a contract between the member and their WW leader. When they meet their goal, they should be able to attend meetings for free.
Ok, off my soap box.

Good morning everyone, Started weight watchers last Monday. I cannot believe how the weekly price has increased. Where I live it is $15.00 a week or you can get a monthly pass for under $40.00 so I purchased the pass. This allows you to go on the website and keep track of everythiing electronically. My meeting is today at 12:15 however it is snowing here yes I said snowing lol they are telling people to stay off the freeways. Anyway if I cannot make it to the meeting today I will attend one tomorrow for my weigh in. I need to loose 20lbs. My daily points are 30. They also allow an extra 35 for the week. I think I am doing good but will not know until weigh in. I met some really nice ladies, at least one who is starting over like me. I am very social so the meetings are enjoyable for me. Will let you know how many pounds I have lost. I am being positive lol. Have a nice day everyone.

Ok people.lost 1 pound today. I am going to incorporate some of what I did on the old program. This program does not seem to emphasize water as much. I am going back to that. I will be walking more this week. Last week I did not exercise at all. Will see if these two changes make a difference. Have a nice evening everyone.:smileyhappy:

Did any of you consider getting a Fitbit? It is a onliner tool and a clip you put on your belt. I have mine set up on my computer that I can log in my water intake for the day, it has calories burned listed for all kinds of exercising, it has a food log and a lot of calorie content, sugar, salt, carbs etc are already entered as lots of people before you have already entered that food product and the Fitbit keeps it in the computer. I bought the cheaper version for like $59.95 a couple years ago but would like to upgrade to the new one you wear on your wrist that even tracks your sleep, You enter your weight in, your weight goals and it tracks everything even lets you know how many calories you can eat a day so you can lose weight, There is even a community where you can meet friends who are working at losing weight, going thru struggles, kind of like a support group for one another. I can’t exercise much due to a disability but I use it to track water I drink, food I eat, walking and it really keeps you in line. And it is a 1 time buy, has easy instructions how to sync the device and set it up to your laptop or computer so no travels to weight watchers, etc. No, I do not work for Fitbit or endorse it for the company I just purchased it from HSN a couple years ago and it has kept me on track, Yes, I get a little lazy at times but then I get back on it, You can even input Andrew Lessman’s Secure drink on it with the calories, carbs, everything, Good luck ladies! I am on my Spring time lose fest again & reading your post has me putting my fit bit back on in the morning, blessings to all

i remember long time ago when you ate tuna 3 or 4 times a week that was the good old WW. i hate those meetings, they are boring and i am a fat woman and it is boring listeing to someone try and run a meeting when she has only lost 25 pounds so just eat lower calorie foods and if you can workout then do that i don’t need to pay 15.00 a week to have someone tell me how much i weigh. get together with close friends and help each other thats the best way. good luck to you that are going

Happy Monday everyone. As of today 2.4 pounds down. I did walk a little more last week. I have a schedule now. I have made time to walk a trail near me that is two miles. There are very nice ladies in my meetings. The lady today has lost 70 lbs and has kept it off. She lost it years ago. Her husband lost 100 lbs because he was doing the program with her. I think to be a leader you must reach your goal weight and keep it off. When I did this in the 90’s the lady that lead my meeting is still doing meetings. She has kept her weight off. Meetings are not for everyone but for me it works.

Another pound down. I walked more and drank more water. I kind of loss track of my points last week so I walked more.:smileyhappy:

I understand what you mean, what life is like when it is so restricted. I too, do not have a life that exists outside of my home. All the best to you, as you work on losing them pounds. Stay positive and focused on the outcome. God Bless
