Andrew Lessman and Bariatric Vitamins
Not sure where to post this, so I’ll put it here. Andrew, WILL YOU PLEASE MAKE YOUR VITAMINS BARIATRIC FRIENDLY? I can’t even try your Today’s Special, because you use soy protein in the meal replacements and not whey protein. Weight loss surgery patients, as I’m sure you know, have special needs, as far as vitamins go, and so far, I have not been able to try any of your’s. I would love to see some chewables, especialy with iron. Also, calcium citrate. 🙁

Pieface I avoid soy like the plague. I also would like to see Andrew remove it from his meal replacements. I take supplements on a daily basis from him that have really helped me out and would like to try the meal replacements without the soy,……Ronnie

Do you actually know what is different about bariatric patient requirements? There is nothing special about "bariatric" requirements. All the vitamin are readily available. They have to be small so there is no stomach upset problem (Lessman”s products are mostly small capsules…he talks about regularly). There are companies that have labelled products for bariatric patients but if you understand what you actually need, there are many, many choices on the market.
In terms of protein powder….soy is the cheapest and Lessman has developed formulas and flavors that work in terms of flavor and solubility. He continued to sell it because it sells….many people do not bother to learn about product, just buy on impulse. Soy is not a complete protein. Many people can not digest soy. I also think Lessman’s serving is ridiculous at a 7g protein serving. Even for a woman as a meal replacement you need AT LEAST 15g, or it will not satisfy you…you will have to take another or eat again within 2 hours.
He is currently showing studies about soy….but not where the studies are from. Fact is that soy was the only protein powders available for decades and all the weight loss companies used it, so of course there is research but it is old.
Not everyone can handle whey either and as an animal product it is much more expensive. But there are now other proteins on the market. Pea is the one that has really been growing the most.
It is not likely that Lessman will offer anything labelled Bariatri, because it is a very specific market (no one who has not had the surgery is going buy it) and frankly it is a small market which means he could not sell enough to make it worthwhile. Sorry. But do your homework; you just need to understand what you need and then you will be able to find lots of choices not labbled bariatric. Wish you well
