Iman
So far I am disappointed in Iman. Each show is a repeat of the last. I hope the next shows have new things. Plus I am always amazed when I see shows for Spring and they show jackets and sweaters and dusters. We in Texas would be too hot for such warm clothes. They made a point of saying her things are true to size. Do you all agree?
-
Yes, I agree. It is spring and all I keep seeing are jackets, jackets and more jackets! I still have at least 7+ jackets from various designers I haven’t worn from last year…. I was hoping for some cute cold shoulder or off shoulder tops. I don’t find her sizing to be consistent.
-
Anyone else not loving the T/S?????
They look so bizarre in the crotch area. Lol.
-
I was hoping for some cute maxi dresses. I ordered my first piece from her last year and it was a maxi, it is very cute and true to size.
-
I have bought a lot of Iman over the last couple of years and here is my input: If it is stretchy, go your regular size but sometimes down a size if you want it tighter to the body, like with the perfect ponte leggings she had last TS. If there is no stretch at all regular size or sometimes up a size. I had to go up in her wool coats because I have big biceps.
I ordered the TS in both M and S because I am just not sure, but I consider myself an M. The same with the blazers. I’ve been losing some weight so I’m just not sure.
Her last perfect ponte TS was the best legging I have ever bought. I hope these bootcuts are as good. I had not noticed the crotch thing you guys were talking about so I’ll have to pay attention next presentation.
Lastly, I have the March guide and Iman is on again in March with a TS on 03/19. I wonder if she won’t have more summery stuff then. Personally, I rarely can wear summer clothes because I live near San Francisco. Our winter high is often 55 degrees, and summer high 62 LOL. I wear some sort of jacket/sweater//coat/blazer/poncho 365 days a year.

I thought the fit was off on many of the models in the crotch area as well. We’ll see when the reviews start coming in.
-
They just showed a closeup of one of the models and the crotch just isn’t right.

When it comes to jeans and pants, Iman has something for everyone. You just have to buy what fits your body type. I get her Curve Appeal jeans, and they are awesome. I’m 5’3″ and 126 pounds, which is about 7-10 pounds over what I’ve always been. Even when I drop six pounds, which is one full size, I’ll need pants that have a smaller waist and larger hips and thighs. Even at my skinniest (113 pounds) that’s the case. I just need a smaller size.
Conversely, those who have a straighter or larger waist and slim legs would do well in her Slip Into Slim pants and her other styles along these lines. I cannot emphasize this enough, as this has been my experience over the years. I have five pairs of her Curve Appeal, but I had to send the most beautiful pair of slim trouser pants back because the waist was big and the legs were tight.
You are so lucky to be in Texas, Pamlou! I’m north of Boston, where it’s a huge deal if the temperature goes over 50 degrees this time of year. We’ve had a warm spell and a really good winter this year, but we usually get more snow and a lot more cold. I’ll be glad when I can put my unattractive midi-length down coat away!

I do agree w u, bc I grew up in Texas where it’s warm in the spring. In my mind, spring is sunnier, brighter, and lighter than what I see in the spring fashions here. Now I live in Ohio where it could snow until May. That doesn’t mean I want to wear winter colors until May. I am going to try Iman’s TS in Chambray and Olive. I have never purchased from Iman.

Much like Mary, I can wear jackets 90% of the year, so I’m fine with that, but even those in hot weather need a jacket for air conditioning. But I also don’t see these as Summer clothes (except here in SF) and I think most people can wear them in Spring as well as Fall (perhaps not in Texas).
I did decide to try one pair of the TS pant, because they came in short and I do like the other ponte pants I own. But I didn’t notice it fitting oddly in the crotch, although they did look really tight on nearly everyone but the ultra thin Bobbie Carter, so I hope they fit. If not, back they will go. If good, I’ll consider picking up another pair when they go on clearance later.

Hey friends, it’s the same every year. This is only February. Even though they say “Spring”, it’s really more transitional clothes at this time of year, for the Winter into Spring category. In a month or so, the designers usually come back with their warmer weather wear (e.g. Iman’s maxi dress or pallazzo pant & Summer tops). As for fit, I’m curvy so Iman’s pants usually fit me true to size. I find that Diane Gilman designs for less curvy people – she always says she gains her weight in her middle, so she designs for that. So maybe Diane Gilman pants are better if you’re straight up & down & less curvy. But Iman definitely fits if you have a distinct waist & hips.

i like her slip into slim jeans, the straigh or skinny leg (as it is) seems a more flattering fit than the bootcut. her stuff is more snug that DG2 or Jessica Simpson, and even G by Guiliana. Seems the woven technology lacks the best stretch combo the other brands must hafe mastered. I get a 4 in her things, 2 in all the other brands. But If I thought a garment seemed too narrow or structured I would buy a 6 and I’m sure it would likely fit – even if a tiny bit more loose.
