Diane Gilman jeans- chemical stink!!
Has anyone figured out yet how to get the funky chemical smell out of the Diane Gilman TSV jeans??? I bought the black ones.

I love the way DG2 jeans fit but the odor problem has been going on for years and years. More than a decade. It’s been years and years since I purchased a black pair of DG2 jeans even though it’s my favorite winter color for jeans. It’s not worth the hassle to deal with the odor. It’s certainly not worth the potential health issues.

If you all send em back Dianne WILL address the problem. Shouldn’t have to smell like you live under the bridge with what you paid for them. Also you shouldn’t be forced to solve her problems for what you spent. Wife wouldn’t have even taken them out of the package……Ronnie

I bought two pairs, beige and blue. The beige has no odor whatsoever. However, the blue denim, Om My God, the odor can knock you or anyone near you out!!! A strong, gasoline, kerosene odor….2 washes and it is still there. Keeping them away from the stove….
Ms.Gilman wears these, and gets many samples. Are they odor free? How about the models? Understand they need a job and don’t say anything. Maybe a batch comes in just for them.
HSN should be help accountable for this….but us poor "shnooks" just keep paying the 6.95 for returns.
Hello HSN – do you have any advice on how to get this "odor" out?? I will be calling.

Strong Toxic Odor in DG2 ClothingLadies,Please tell HSN if your DG2 jeans or other clothing have a toxic odor, so they can investigate!I bought the DG2 Turtleneck with Jewels Item#435-059 at full price, a beautiful heather chambray sweater that smelled like toxic chemicals, even after three hand washings! Unfortunately, I had to return it and they waived the shipping. Then I just purchased 2 pair of DG2 Comfort Waist Knit Twill Jeggings Item# 454-663, I opened the box and was immediately hit with a strong odor. I tried them on to see how they fit and developed a rash on my legs and welts around my waist area. I took a shower and my snow white towel is now blue. I had to take two more showers to scrub the dye off my legs and waist!Diane,Exposure to these chemicals being absorbed through our skin could cause cancer! I have invested alot of money in buying your clothing, but I will never buy a black or indigo jean or jacket from you ever again. It has been four years worth of washings, and they still emit a strong chemical smell, bleed dye, and give me a rash all over my arms and legs. They have to be washed separately or they infect my entire laundry load with this offensive odor! When are you going to investigate this problem? Why do you ignore these reviews? If you cared you would do something to fix this problem. Instead, You are too busy chanting, "50 Million Sold!" These garments smell toxic! I am tired of getting a rash from your clothing!

About a year or so ago I ordered DG jeans and sent them back without trying them on because the odor was strong. I intended to never order them again. A few weeks ago I saw DG jeans that were a lighter fabric and lighter color and thought I would give them a try. I called HSN and was told that they had not heard about any odor. They arrived. I was excited to put them on and they fit. I started to think that I must order more colors. Then I detected the odor. Okay, perhaps I can wash this out. I washed them, soaked in vinegar, washed again. The smell was like a sewer smell. I dried them and hung them outside. Smell still there. I sent them back.
Today I got an email for me to review the jeans. I had already called customer service before to mention the bad chemical odor. When I began the review process, on my computer it read – ooooops you have nothing to review. I called customer service – this time the lady did say that she had heard about the odor in the jeans and she was going to call the tech department to see why it said ooooops, nothing to review on my computer. I was wondering if some of the bad reviews are not put online and should I trust the other reviews.

Tamrick, please phone hsn and complain and you will get your shipping refunded-both ways. Otherwise I would have totally stopped shopping with them, as qc certainly is not what it was years ago. Also I responded below to someone about odor in jeans.

I too agree that if something has a smell, back it goes. If it is smelly or defective, please call customer service and they should not make you pay to send back. I love shopping at HSN for the fashion that as a plus size gal, is not always available and as I get a bit older I am tired of trudging through retail looking for awesome fashion pieces. I received a fab outfit from DG with sequin leggings and a sequin jacket to match are one of my favorite purchases. I tried her jeans- awful- She always says you can go down a size. I even went up a size and my thighs looked awful!!! No more DG jeans for me even though she sells thousands… Someone likes them!!!

Has anyone tried heat yet? Curious as to if it works?

In my DG2s I have noticed the smell just kind goes away with age and washing ,airing out ,too. Don’t hold your breath on Diane addressing anything negative about anything she makes!

The only thing that ultimately dissipated the horrendous smell was time. I keep DG2 jeans and jackets that arrive with the chemical smell in a small, separate closet with several hanging cedar blocks. Eventually and I mean after quite a while, I can open the closet door without the foul smell hitting me.
It’s been years since I’ve purchased a new pair of DG2 black jeans. Will wear the ones I have until they hit the trash basket. Maybe I should isolate a new pair soon. I wish Diane would address the problem and tell us what she does to eliminate the smell from her own personal inventory.

I had the comfort waist and the bootcut jeans in black I had to review these jeans and yes they have a bad chemical smell even after I washed them it still is there.

The secret is using heat and time. Wash in the hotest water possible inside out, sprinkle in some downy unstoppables, and dry on hottest heat, use fabric softner in the rinse or use dryer sheets.
Many garments that have heat applied decorations will fall off in this situation, Diane loves these and she doesn’t even supply extra’s for us to put back on the garments after the are laundered.
Worked for major ladies sportwear manufacturer for many years, many items made in India have this problem due to the lack of water available to properly launder the fabrics used in the making of garments. The darker the color the greater the smell.
The fabric that we used to manufacture in America is no longer available due to American Greed by manufactures and our politicians who sold us out years ago to have our jobs turned over to foreign countries for slave wages, to bust the unions that used to regulate the industry, and of course increase their bottom line.
Sad turn of events for a great country with the greatest work force that now finds itself unemployed and the jobs keep rolling along, overseas!!!.

Boy, after reading all of these posts, I am amazed to what length you ladies are to solve this problem. I agree with another opinion that we should not keep defective products. I am also struck by the number of people who don’t return items. I cannot afford to donate or toss things that aren’t right. Maybe HSN and Diane Gilman would get the message if there were more refunds issued.. Just my reality.
