Hi DazedAndConfused,
You are welcome. I am only to glad to share my knowledge and ideas with everyone. I know sewing can get a bit expensive to start out. With like you mentions table and dress form. I too have a dress form and I got that on sale at the joann’s. My husband and our son made me an 8ft by 6 ft table. I use it to do all my crafting. I have had all my machines set up at once on it. I also use it to cut my fabric.
Wait on the serger a bit because that can get complicated. Especially the threading. There are lots out there and all can get very expensive. I have the Singer Pro 5 Thread serger that I also bought here on HSN. In the reviews I read that some had a hard time with the threading. This takes time and patience but once you get the hang of it there is no turning back. At least for me anyway.
I looked at the brother Dream embroidery machine it is fabulous but very very costly. If I had a sewing business then I might consider it but I would have to use it as a write off as it is the price of a used car or several mortgage payments for me.
You also have to watch as not to get caught up in the hype of sewing machines too. I am sure you will get the correct machine for your Young Lady. I am wishing they had the what they called the Heavy Duty Studio which is mine with all the accessories. The 1100 stitches per minute is really great to have.
My others are 750 stitches per minute and are no longer sold here at HSN. I have the Singer Signature and the Singer 9970 1,000 plus stitch designs. Plus I have the Singer futura 4 in 1 sesq 6000. That is my embroidery machine.
Well happy shopping, It is always fun to look for something new and exciting.
Your HSN friend,
Cupatea

I do plan to wait a while before getting the serger. I’m going to give her time to learn and practice with her machine first. I know how to use a serger so when I do get it I can help her with that, and what I don’t know she can find online or from a friend.
This young lady is petite so she’ll make most of her own clothes, too. She is so tiny, she has to buy her shoes in the kid’s section. She is very excited to get a machine so I know she will be spending a lot of time practicing and sewing. And I’m excited to what she makes, she is creative with her costumes and makeup.
