Adding Up Your Purchases
Have you ever gone to Order History and added up your purchases for the month/year/whatever? I just did and it was staggering! Nobody is going to see those numbers, that’s for sure! Flex pay makes it so easy to buy and buy and buy and you are ONLY paying so much a month. Anybody else done this and left with your mouth hanging open at the results? My monthly flex pays have been going up up up, too.

. Hi. Funny you mention this, I have one of those accordian files, with dividers for months of the year. Throughout the year, I put all my papers, receipts, bill stubs, checking & savings statements etc, in each pocket for the month it occurred,
Every Jan/Feb, of course and I just did this Satuday for 2016, I empty the entire folder and go through each item, throwing things I don’t need into a box, but anything I would need for taxes into a tax folder, and of coure receipts for silly stuff in box to shred, or receipt folder if think I’ll need it longer term.. (Think applicances or electronics).
I could not believe how many HSN packing/shipping receipts I had!!!!!! The stack was outrageous!…. I need to behave myself this year, that was certainly a wake up call!

Yep! It never seems like I’m buying too much until that credit bill comes in and lo and behold, I am! Those HSN coupons and price reductions get me way too often…:womansurprised:
-
I’m a bargain shopper who never pays full price for anything, so I’m actually pretty impressed with my totals when I think about how much money I saved on things I really needed. I am gonna try to spend less, bc I’m saving up for something important.

I always shop sales or even better clearance . Some months I buy a lot sometimes I don’t
YES it can be an eye opener when you start counting it up .
Really it is not my fault :smileyembarrassed: it is all the amazing fellow HSN Community posters that keep me so informed on great deals here at HSN
:smileylol:

No. No. No. Don’t go to that scary page! :womansurprised: :womanlol:

Hi I don’t have an HSN card but have seen it practiced on others. Definitely a wake up call – but on the other hand life is short, no one is guaranteed tomorrow so enjoy.:womanvery-happy:

I know the feeling Pamlou, it’s when you flex pay yourself into having to budget everything else for six months that it really gets to you. I have no self control, especially in the wee hours when I am awake and watching tv and have taken my meds, I call it shopping in my sleep. I watch three different shopping channels now. :smileyhappy:

Last year I decided that by the end of 2016 all my Flex pay and Easy pay would be paid off. I did it!
Also, as hard as it was, canceled all auto-deliveries. Good luck to all of you. You can do it too!

I knew I had a problem when the mailman asked if I was done yet. lol I actually said yes I was. I have purchased one or 2 things I didn’t need since then(all clearance or great deals), but other than that, I have been good. I only have one thing on auto ship, and it has 3 shipments left total for the year, so I feel okay with that. There are many things I have almost purchased, but took back out of my cart because I truly didn’t need it. My goal is to have the credit card paid in full by July. Wish me luck (and will power).
*This is another reason why I have not been posting, I have been avoiding temptation.

Yes Pamlou, I have done that on my flex pays….on 4 shopping channels. I know flex pay is a huge help for most but I totally stopped it because I had so many that I wouldn’t even know if I was being charged for things I returned or whatever. It was too overwhelming to keep track of everything. Now I just pay in full, which is very scary too…but at least it’s manageable and my credit card bill isn’t 3 pages long. I still admit home shopping is a problem. It’s a dual edged sword – very relaxing when I’m doing it – scary as heck when I see what I’ve spent!!!

I am same way. I like everything. Plus I have to get the matching pants and on and on… I tried to keep a record per month, but a week into it, I would lose count.
Lately the only way I managed to get it under control is I put things on my wish list and delay buying. Before you know it, something else catches my eye I like better. Then I am glad I didn’t get the first one. and I try to delay on the next thing too. and sometimes they sell out, but I have never regretted missing out cause there is always more.
Then I try to only buy on my HSN card. and it only has so much limit and I try to only pay a fixed amount per month including the flex pay. so that leaves me so much to shop.

Ha ha ha, you hit the nail on the head . I had so many blue packing Slips it scared me. I have a huge container I keep them in. My credit card bill is about four pages now! I end up paying a large monthly bill and then have to go in and pay down on the flex pays. I paid it down with a another credit card and now it’s back up. I finally took control in December, after Christmas and every time I get it under control either Heidi Daus or Jay King come back for a TSV. I no longer trust my fingers…they have a mind of their own late at night when I’m watching . I literally took a part-time job just to pay down flex pays . That was a good idea about not using flex pay at all . I think I’ll try that next #SassyGranny

Ok ya’ll…..are ya’ll looking at my mail?? It sure sounds like ya’ll are!!!!…..lol….:womanlol: The reason, I’m in the same boat. Reviewing my statement, noticed, what are all these flex-pays? What all did I buy??? Well, I started a head game with myself this year. I just DON’T WATCH THE CHANNELS! If I don’t see, then I won’t buy. My family (one Sunday, right after New Year) decided we are not going to purchase anything off T.V. or also going to have a two week period where NO SOCIAL MEDIA. By chance, I haven’t been on the forums for a few weeks. We all wanted to see how we can have TOTAL CONTROL OVER OURSELVES. This was so HARD! I played my games but; wasn’t on the forums….**bleep** near killed me….lol. But, I passed and I am back. Now, I haven’t purchased one thing since Xmas. Wheew—this discipline thing is VERY HARD AND NERVE RACKING! Remind me Sunday to slap my daughter-in-law…lol…..:womanlol: This was her ‘WILD IDEA!’

In the past I use to buy a huge amount but once I got debt free its easier to not buy on a whim for me..I still spend quiet a bit, amazon is my biggest expense, but I never buy more then I have set aside to pay in full when the bill comes..I need peace of mind now and couldn’t relax if I owed money in todays economy. My sense of well being improved so much once I stopped juggling money to pay bills that I hope to never do that again.I think when I already owed it was easier for me to keep adding more to it.Now I don’t want debt so I control my spending much easier. But its a big change and wasn’t easy to do..
