I fondly remember as a kid, when it was time to send out Christmas cards, sitting around the dining room table with my mom, brother and sister and we would all work on it together. It was like an assembly line.
My mom would always write out the card, then my brother would address the envelope, I would seal the envelopes, then my sister would apply the stamps. I was always amazed by how many Christmas cards we sent out and how many we received in return. We would hang the cards we received on a ribbon around two very large doorways.
Those were the good old days.
Sadly, as the years went by, the number of cards we received became less and less. And the number of cards we sent out also became fewer.

I received one Christmas Card, LOL. It’s all fancy shmancy made by Shutterfly – not handwritten or even signed. :smileylol: It is a beautiful card, and I’m glad someone remembered me. :smileyhappy:

I love giving and receiving Christmas and Birthday cards! The only tech thing I have done is printing out labels with return address and to the addressee. It saves so much time doing it this way. But I always write something personal inside each and every card.:womanhappy:

I mailed cards to some old friends today. I didn’t handmake them like I do sometimes, but I would like to next year.

It’s wierd that you started this post. Just this morning, I went out looking for cards that say Merry Christmas or a religious theme on the front. Most cards I have seen display Santa, Snowmen, and PEACE on the front. It’s becoming expensive sending cards these days, with the price of nicer cards themselves and of course the Christmas stamps that keep increasing in price year after year.
I finally found some nice glitter cards at Target with a religious theme to send to family and close friends. I do think people are forgetting the meaning of the holiday. I also send beautiful snow themed picture cards by email to the few co-workers I still communicate with after nearly everyone has retired.

CARDS-I love to choose a card for any occasion-it’s personal and,I don’t think typing something out has the same value, that’s just my choice.

Back to this topic… I was just thinking about how I can’t even remember the last time I received a Thank You card.

Hi Retlaw. Just wanted to mention that you start some great, interesting threads. Thank you and Merry Christmas!:womanvery-happy:

I understand fully.. I received one card and I wanted to cry, I did.

Because of the tech things I do here you might think I would not be into hand written, mailed cards. That would not be true. I also love to give and receive old fashioned Christmas cards. I hope this tradition lives on forever.

I love sending and receiving Christmas Cards. I especially like the ones that have a picture included, both the children and adults. It’s nice to see your loved ones and friends smiling at you, and of course all of the little fur babies too.:smileyhappy::heart:

I am a retired owner of a Gold Crown Hallmark store that was in NYC.
I taught my kids from a young age that you can’t just pick a card without reading it..I also taught kids that came into my store when they asked for help choosing a card.
The card has to fit the person you are sending it to..I love to send and get cards in the mail..
Although the card prices have gotten out of hand in some cases..You can always write a heartfelt message in a cheaper blank card.
I did teach my kids well..they always manage to send me a card that makes me cry!!!:smileyhappy:
