Tracfone Question
I have a question. I just purchased the tracfone. Can I purchase more minutes when I get the phone or do I have to wait until I run out of minutes. I have never had a tracfone before. Also I noticed the host had her finger in a ring on the back of the phone. Does this come with it?

Oh, and I did do a Google search…only to come up with "8 easy steps" …8 steps?…easy?…I don’t think so! Or soak rice for 1 1/2 hours?…again, I don’t think so!

Oh, I just take a bowl, put one cup of rice and two cups of water, and a bit of salt, and set it to 22 minutes on medium power (5 out of 10 on my microwave). I usually add a little butter after it’s done. Try it and adjust as you need.
I now cook pretty much all grains in the microwave. Millet and ground corn and others will take longer and of course, oats less. Usually there are directions right on the bag for how long it takes to microwave.
The bowl needs to be large enough or else there’ll be nasty spillovers.

@ Massha…
Do you cover the bowl of rice with one of those microwave covers?
I ask because stovetop directions for rice always tell you to cover the rice while cooking so that the rice absorbs the liquid…and was wondering if the water would dissipate too rapidly in the microwave if not covered. I purchased the little WP rice cooker, but am thinking that microwaved rice would also turn out ok.

, you can add minutes whenever it’s convenient for you. You don’t have to wait until you run out. I’m sorry but there is no mention of a ring in the product description so I don’t think it is included.

Hi sunshine8075, I bought this one too (for Mom) which I’m happily waiting for because I have another Tracfone of my own which I’m really happy with.
I know this doesn’t make me an expert on Tracfone but I just renewed the minutes on mine and chose the 365 day option from the many minute packages available. I did this on-line, and I noticed that if you select a quantity greater than one it appeared that it increased the service date to two (2), three (3) or more as well. I did not do that on mine because I didn’t need it this time (because, since the minutes roll over instead of expire, I had plenty).
But, the Tracfone comes with a start-up guide book with a (800) phone number for a live person to help, with activation, or any other questions.
I think I may do what you are asking about when I receive Mom’s phone, so hopefully she’ll never have to worry about renewing minutes on her Tracfone. I expect I’ll contact Tracfone when I get Mom’s phone for help to do this. Thanks for asking this question and I hope I helped you a little.

P.S. The ring that you mentioned did not come with my other Tracfone. I think that’s just for the host’s use to make it easier to hold the phones visibly. But I think they are available for purchase on HSN.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond to me. I am new at this and I really appreciate it. I will post an update when I get my phone set up. Have a wonderful day.:-)
