tracfone and simplyactivate
I have a question for Tracfone users or HSN mods:
Does simplyactivate take care of transferring your phone # and remaining balances from one tracfone to the new one?
If not, what is the correct series of steps to activating the new phone, doing the transfers, and getting the 1200 promotional minutes? If it’s all explained with the information that comes with the phone, you can just say so and I apologize. I haven’t received the phone yet, and am somewhat concerned reading all the reviews on the phone.

I have used Tracfone for years, buying a new phone each year. It used to be really easy to set a new phone up. They’ve made it a lot more complicated. It’s also a lot harder to look up your "minutes left" plus other things. They took something that wasn’t brokent & "fixed it", thereby making a mess.

I have ordered many Tracfone’s over the years (it makes more sense to upgrade when new phones come out than it does to just keep adding minutes to older styles). I don’t understand why so many people have such difficulty with activating their phone. Every phone I’ve activated has been wonderful and the coverage is excellent (even used on a trip when driving from the Northeast to Florida … had coverage all through the drive). I switched to Tracfone service approximately 10 years ago when my then Sprint cell phone service cost $45 per month. I’ve kept that same old Sprint telephone number all these years. I’ve saved loads of money with Tracfone.
PLEASE do yourself a favor, do NOT send your Tracfone back. Re-read the directions. While it may be confusing at first, if you read them slowly a couple of times, you should be able to figure it out. If you still have questions, first, call HSN’s customer service and ask them to walk you through what the order of activation steps are. Then go ahead and activate the phone with Tracfone either on the new cell phone, OR on-line. . I can not tell you what the correct order of steps are since I don’t have them in front of me.
Tracfone’s and services are Great in my experience!

I seem to have the same problem as everybody else with my Tracfone. When I activated my phone it transferred my old phone number and my existing minuites and service days but it did not load my
promotional minutes and service days. When I realized this problem and contacted Tracfone they
referred me back to HSN for a Pin #. HSN told me to use *22890. I entered this number and after
waiting the time it specified it still did not load. Tracfone referred me back to HSN and they gave me a
new number to call. 1-888-222-8484 – I was instructed to enter HSN order #, then my zip code, then
to select option #3, then it tells me that the activation time has expired. Tracfone and HSN says they cannot help me so I have lost the money I paid for the phone, I have spent countless time on the phone and I have 3 service days left on my phone. Goodbye TRACFONE, NEVER AGAIN!!!!

I’ve been trying to activate my new Tracfone with my current Tracfone’s remaining minutes and my current phone number. I’ve logged onto the webiste simplyactivate.com and tried there and also tried to call the number. No success either way. Very frustrating! When I called and gave my info I was pretty much told they couldn’t help and hung up. What do I do now? Thank you, Barb
Well, I was able to resolve this myself. I contacted tracfone and did have an operator that was able to walk me through and help me out. I had to call *22890 on my new phone even though I never received a confirmation that my new phone was activated. I did read all the responses here and that did help me to resolve my own problem with activating the new phone.

I think there might be a step missing from the simplyactivate process to tell you to power off the phone and then power it back on. I know when I activated my phone a couple of months ago, I got to a point where it wanted me to dial some number to complete the activation, but I couldn’t because I wasn’t getting service on my new phone — so I couldn’t make a call. This was after the process told me to leave my phone on. I could log in to my tracfone account and see the new phone was there but I wasn’t getting the 4G icon. Since my old phone was already deactivated, I used my landline to call the simplyactivate number. The very nice person who answered told me to turn off the phone and then turn it back on. That worked.
It’s easy to get frustrated, but stick with it. Just keep telling yourself it will all be fine once you get past activation. The tracfone android phones are very nice, and the bundle of minutes you get with them on HSN are a very good deal.
