Samsung Galaxy SKY Tracfone – Please clarify
Can someone please clarify which carrier this phone is with? The item page lists it as CDMA and GSM! I don’t believe this is possible. Nothing is mentioned in the preview video and they never seem to mention this important detail in the presentations. Verizon or AT&T?? Please respond if anyone knows for sure. Thanks!!

It’s either or. There’s no way to know specifically as it uses whichever Tower is available where you are.

It’s my understanding that the VL in the model number means Verizon is the carrier.

Hi Tracey:
While I’m not an expert and not technically confirming anything. I’ve watched dozens of presentations from HSN on Tracphone deals. (I myself, ordered Samsung Galaxy 3 phones, with the carrier being Virgin Mobile, a few years back, and still love, both the service and the phones, by the way).
Every time I watch the presentations on Tracphone, they say that Tracphone uses both of the major carriers to provide the service. Both Verizon and another carrier, either AT&T, and/or Spirit.
Tracphone buys service from other carriers. As they don’t have their infrastructure.
Any particular reason you are so concerned about which serivce provider it is? Asssuming you had a bad experience with one of them, maybe in the past?

I agree !!
the HSN Presentations should give the Carrier for TS TRACFONES ! I posted this Question in the Customer Service and got no reply.
CDMA usually is Verizon ; GSM is ATT . Now IMO they should indicate whether the carrier is T-Mobile. T-Mobile is GSM and their towers are weak ,no service/poor service in my area. If this is the case this TS is going back as the On5 did go back

I think you have a Tracfone in which you purchase the minutes and automatically it will be tripled as long as you do so within a specified period of time. It’s not Verizon of AT&T. Similar to Boost, T-Mobile, Sprint, etc..If you watch the long video presentation, it may help.

I was using a Moto E phone i bought from Evine over a year ago, it was a Tracfone, they used Verizon. I’m not sure if it differs from different manufacturers. I now have the Samsung Galaxy On5 I got from HSN. I’m still don’t know what carrier they use.
