More Questions about LG Sunset Activation
Hello,
I ordered an LG Sunset Tracfone last week and have been worrying about the activation – especially after reading the many problems people are having getting the promotional minutes that are included. I currently have an older tracfone with 1900 minutes and don’t want to lose those. I want to transfer my number and service date to the new phone AND be sure to get the 1350 minutes/text/data that is included.
So – my questions – what is the correct procedure to accomplish that? Has anyone had success transferring a number and minutes and then getting the promotional minutes added. If so – how did you do it?
My first impulse after reading so many reports of not getting the minutes is to just send the phone back – as I know once I start the transfer process, I’ll also lose those 1900 minutes on the old phone since I don’t think they can be put back once they’re moved.
Anyway – I’d love to hear from anyone who was successful with the whole process and the right way to do it so that there are no issues. It didn’t seem that it would be this hard to get what was promised when I bought the phone.
Thanks!

I upgraded my old tracphone for the LG Sunset recently. I didn’t have a problem at all transferring my phone number, minutes and getting the additional minutes that comes with the new phone. I did it on line.
I really like the phone and it’s a vast improvement over the previous smart phone (tracfone) that I had.
Good luck!

Thnaks Roxy! Which website did you use to do it? And I’ve heard talk of the "red card" and the "blue card" – which has the right info? Sorry, but I am just really paranoid about losing either my 1900 old minutes that should be added as 1900 text, 1900 data and 1900 takl – or not being able to then add the 1350 HSM offers. Why don’t they just give you a 1 year, 450 minuted card with a PIN – that would make this all so much easier.
Thanks for the info!

Follow the diretions on the blue card. It is quite clear.
It took me all of 5 minutes for me to activate the new phone online. I ported my phone nuber from my previous Tracfone, and the number and minutes took about 90 minutes to appear on the new phone. Once the old phone stopped working, I simply turned the new phone off and back on, and all minutes were there (including the 1,350 bonus minutes.
Based on what I have read thus far, it appears many people are not following the instructions correctly. This is a new process for this phone as no PIN is required to get the bonus time. Apparently, this is confusing to some peopple.

TobyinKY – thanks and so reassuring to hear. I was pretty upset with so many folks posting that it didn’t work, but you have been very helpful.
Which set of directions did you use since that seems to be the issue – instructions on the red card or blue?

I was very worried about activating this phone too. Especially after reading about all the problems. I did it online. I followed instructions on the blue card & used serial # off red card. I was very careful, double-checking the numbers. Maybe people with problems entered the info wrong? I also had to enter my HSN order # & zip code. I kept the same phone # from previous tracfone. Minutes came through right away- old balance as well as new ones. It said it could take a couple days for the minutes to show up. I turned new phone off & on. Minutes were there right away. Had absolutely no problem.

According to my comversation with HSN you can go to the website or call the number on the Blue card and give the information on the red card in the white boxes. Also if you are going to transfer a phone number from verizon you will need to have your account number and any password you have with them. If you call them they will give you the info you need. So far i haven’t done it but thats the info i was told. Hope it helps.

Thanks everyone! I feel so much better now. I am actaully going to transfer my old Tracfone number and minutes to the new phone – which is supposed to give me 1900 talk, 1900 text and 1900 mb data along with the promo from HSN.
A question – for those who have been successful – how did you check to see the added minutes – is there somewhere in the phone that shows it or a code like I’ve seem online: *777*1# – does that work?
Again, glad this is working for some and can’t wait to get my new phone and get it all set up now that I am confident I WILL get everything tha tis advertised.

OK – just got my new LG Sunset and went through the activation over the phone. Amazingly, it all worked right away – after the Tracfone rep at 1-800-816-0663 went through the information and got the serial number and SIM, she said to just turn it off and back on, and all of my minutes from my old phone, my number and the promotional minutes were all there! I was quite amazed that it happened so quickly. Now I just need to figure out how to use it – LOL!
I immediatly downloaded the MY Tracfone App to check the minutes and also tried dialing *777*1# and both showed that all of the minutes were there!
Thanks to everyone for the help. Yes – use the blue card and give the info on the red and it should all work!
