LG Sunset activation
I just got my new LG Sunset Tracfone and was wondering about the activation site on the blue Welcome Guide that came with the phone. Do I activate the phone through that website (activate.trafone.com) and then transfer my number and roll over minutes or do I do the number transfer and and roll over first? Is this activation site different than the SimplyActivate site where they give you a pin number to retieve your bonus minutes? Will I need to go to the Tracfone site to do the transfer? Sorry if this is a weird question, but I’m so used to doing it the old way I want to make sure to do it right to save me (and others) a headache. (Sorry to repeat this question if it’s already been posted and I missed it)
Thanks for you help :catvery-happy:

@hsn_sarah ok. will that give me my 1350 minutes etc? Also, when i need to refill the minutes what number do i call or will i use my phone to buy more? i’m assuming if i buy the 450 minute plan for a year it will tripple automatically to 1350 correct. On the info that comes with the phone none of the plans shown have the info and cost to refill the minutes?

I am a new tracfone customer. I read the responses to the topic and am confused as to whether i’m supposed to follow the red card or the blue card. I talked to HSN and was told to call the number on the blue card but the info needed is on the red card???? All i want to do is activate the phone and transfer my current phone number to the new phone. What do i need to do?

Thanks for the tips! Followed info here & had no problem transferring old phone & activating new one. All minutes transferred easily & the promo minutes showed up in just a few minutes. Couldn’t have gone any smoother.
The phone is for my 80 year old father. It’s his 3rd tracfone. I gave him brief instructions last night. I think he’s having trouble with it. I wish they had owner’s manuals with instructions like they used to. I went to LG website & found link for manuals but nothing came up. Anyone know where I can find simple instructions to print out for him? I think just getting to the "inbox"for text messages is confusing for him. He just uses the phone for calls & texts.
Also- voice commands. Can you actually send a text using voice commands? I found how to send text to someone but body of text had to be typed. Would appreciate any tips to make sending & receiving texts easier for him. TIA!

I’m glad I found this thread. I ordered the Sunset tracfone too and got it this past Tuesday. Was confused about the two different cards inside, so after reading here, used the blue card # and everything went fine and all minutes were credited by this afternoon. The 1350 bundle took a few hours longer than my transferred balance but I just waited, then checked later and they were there.

Don’t use the red activation # use the blue #. I made the mistake of using the red and they changed my phone #. You don’t have to have a pin # anymore because HSN changed their policy regarding that and that is why you used the blue card phone #. They are supposed to be dedicated to the new policy changed by HSN. Don’t know why HSN didn’t put this out there so everyone was aware of the change. The red activation card is just making everything more confusing than ever.

I seem to be having the same problem of activation. I made the mistake of following the red START HERE Tracfone activation instead of the Welcome card. Now I can’t get the minutes and service plan added. I will try again today but yesterday I called Tracfone and they told me I had to call HSN for help and so I called HSN and they told me to call Tracfone. Got frustrated with the circle jerking so I just put it away for awhile until I have more patience. I have never had this problem with all the many Tracfones I’ve ordered.

I did have to call to get the minutes added but it was painless this time (Tracfone CS can be a nightmare) The call only took a few minutes and I could actually watch the time show up on the time widget on my phone :womanvery-happy:
I’ve been trying to add a review of the phone but it keeps kicking it out and won’t take it. I also wanted to let people know that they can change the color of their keyboard (someone complained about it and I think it was one of the reasons she was returning it) In case anyone else has that problem, here’s the way to change the color:
Go to Settings::
Click on : Language and Imputs then click on the settings next to LG Keyboard.
On the ‘My Keyboard’ screen click on ‘Keyboard height and layout’. At the bottom of the list click on ‘Keyboard themes’, there you can choose the color of your keyboard, either black or white. Thanks again to everyone that helped me get my minutes straightened out.

Thanks for the quick answers! I just activated the phone, I can call out on it, but the extra minutes aren’t there. I’ll wait for a while and see what happens before making that dreaded CS call.
Thanks again every one!

I did what the blue card said, got the phone activated but no HSN minutes showed up. :catsad: Do I still need to go to SimplyActivate to get a pin number? I have dialed *22890 many times but only get a beep sound, I think I would normally get a recorded message…am I forgetting something?

Same problem. Great phone and unbelievable price BUT only because of the free minutes. Nowhere does it expalin how to redeem them but I did follow the previous posters advice and everything is fine.
This one was for my wife and I’ll be looking for the next sale to get one for myself. We love Tracfone and have owned about two doezen over the years but this one is the best. Nice fast internet connections as well.

Hi ! Congratulations on your new phone! 🙂 In order to make sure you receive the bundled minutes, make sure you activate the phone first following the guide. After that is done, then you just need to call tracfone to have them take care of the rest.
