Disappointing Lifetime Support
I purchased an HP computer less than a year ago. It has several issues. I called the phone number for the Lifetime Support and was not given much assistance, but told that I needed to purchase a $750 protection for my computer. It is a lifetime virus protection etc, and on special for $400.00, but I needed to act quickly. I asked about getting the software and set up issues resolved and was told it wouldn’t be worth it. I asked waht it cost to get those repairs done and was told again, just not worth it. Why would I be paying, if I had Lifetime Support to begin with?? The support sounded like a great idea, but sure not worth a phone number just to sell me something else! The guy looked at my computer briefly, but then put an ad for the virus protection on the screen after about 30 seconds. So….in other words….not much more than a high pressured sales company. I will never purchase something for the so called “Lifetime Support” again!! This is false advertising to be honest…………..

Sorry to see you have issues with a promised lifetime of support. :smileysad: I have always wondered if what, HSN was saying about lifetime support on a purchased PC was just too good to be true ?? Guess it is. Again, I am sorry you got burnt by this empty promise. I will heed this issue and very well remember this anytime I consider making such a purchase from HSN, QVC or EVine. Guess that ole saying really is true, ” If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. “ Thanks for posting this valuable information. As far as I am concerned, this is nothing more then false advertising which is a crime the last time I knew.

ConnieDH, check the warranty on your computer–most have a twelve month warranty. If it is still under warranty, contact HP for your needs and not the “lifetime support.” My experience in dealing with and researching “lifetime support” offers have been that they are third-party companies and deal with software issues only. I know of no computer manufacturer that will offer a true lifetime warranty through the manufacturer, especially on a television shopping network. Unfortunately, I have found that “lifetime support” offers are not worth the money.

rhlannonl…Friday I called VTech re a problem and they answered in a short period of time, I called approx.6:45 EST and they once again handled my problem. I’m a newbie at computers so I will probably call them a lot as problems come up. Just wanted you to know that they are there to help you.

I am sorry to hear of the trouble you are having. Please check with c/s for assistance.

rhlannonl…No. VTech did not try to sell me anything…..In fact when I mentioned that I had Vipre…they said that was a good one to have. I will continue contacting them when I have a problem.

This is VTech’s nice fraudelent game. I wouldn’t call them again or let them have acess to your computer!!! Nothing can be done at this point as HSN won’t address this serious issue!

I purchased the HP computer, the Neat, Magic Flash and other items that have Lifetime support sold with the product. The newest being the Neat Scanner. When you request the support, the companies will not honor it. The newest being the Neat Scanner. With Neat Scanner they are suppose to have a support phone number just for HSN customers with live support. No longer, Neat has changed their policy no matter if you purchased it from HSN or who, you are treated the same. No more live support. You now have to send an email with the issue and they send you instructions on how to fix it. My last fix I could not understand, so I had to pay extra to get it fixed, they have updates all the time, and some Neat Scanners you can no longer update with the website and instructions they provide you. I had to pay extra to have them fix it and it took them 4 DAYS at 7 hrs each day and you have to be at the computer during the fix, because they guide you to fix it. That is not what I purchased. When I called hsn, I was informed they could not help me, even though my purchase stated lifetime support. On the Magic Flash drive it was sold with life time support and you had to purchase one for each computer. I purchased 5 o f them. And guess what! you can no longer get ahold of them with the number provided. When called HSN, they could not help, when called the BBB, they contacted the company, but the only way you can reach them is to email them, and weeks later they might get back with you. The company is no longer in service. So HSN needs to find another way to sell a product besides Lifetime support, because once you purchase it, your on your own. With the HP, I called the corporate and I asked to speak to the CEO, and they did allow me to speak with he. He did take care of the issue, which was a new hard drive, they paid for shipping and return shipping. But the trouble you have to go to find out how to get it fixed is not worth it. Try that and see if it will help you. Call corporate it is out of Texas.

I am suprised,
HP is a good Company.. Do what you can to resolve this.

I purchased the HP computer, probably the same time you did. I have not been able to understand all the problems everyone is having with the Lifetime Support. I have used them several times and have alway gotten thru to them in a reasonable length of time, they have fixed whatever problem I had, and were always very courteous and caring while fixing my problem. I do have Vipre antivirus and WinCleaner on my computer, which protects and cleans out my puter, which I purchased from HSN.
When I purchasd it, the Lifetime Support was Elite. Since then it is VTech. Perhaps you are calling the wrong number. I do believe, that if the HP Warranty has run out and you did not renew it, then those hardware problems are not covered by HP and is not under lifetime support. I may be wrong, If so, I’m sure someone will set me straight.
I’m really sorry you’re having problems.
