it doesn’t … it records your arm movement..  That is how all of them work..  Not completely accurate but very close…  

they did say you could attach it to your ankle if you are using and elliptical trainer or  stationary bike so I guess you could do that if you want to  but it would be awkward. and look like an Police ttacking ankle bracelet.
