Flex Pay Denied
I have been purchasing from HSN for several years now almost always use Flex Pay. I even bought my very first laptop from HSN using Flex Pay. Yesterday I placed an order for an item that was about the same price as my laptop and decided to use Flex Pay. Today I get an email stating that they are unable to extend the Flex Pay option to me and I should call to pay for the item in full. I even used my HSN card for the Flex Pay. I do not think it is right for HSN to deny a good customer Flex Pay. I have never missed a payment or have never been late on a Flex Pay payment. I am very upset that this has happened. I have been a loyal customer to HSN and now feel as if HSN does not appreciate their customers. Nowhere could I find where it indicates Flex Pay may be denied, even the show hosts frequently state on-air how Flex Pay is available to anyone using a credit card. This item was meant as a gift for someone and they were very excited they were getting one. I always appreciated the Flex Pay option as it has allowed me to purchase items I could not pay in full upfront. Stating Flex Pay is an option anyone with a credit card can use is a very misleading statement if it can be denied. I could not find anywhere where it states Flex Pay option is subject to final approval. I feel as if HSN does not appreciate my loyalty. I guess I will have to order this item from elsewhere. I am considering filing a complaint with the BBB for making false and misleading statements about the Flex Pay option and not clearly stating subject to final approval. This is just wrong and bad customer service to a loyal shopper.

Sedunn, we’re very sorry we weren’t able to process your order on FlexPay. This doesn’t mean you won’t qualify for FlexPay on future orders. Please look for a written explanation you will be receiving within the next 7-10 days. I truly hope you will shop with us in the near future.

sedunn, is it possible that the flexpay option would have put you over your credit limit on the card? I would try calling the credit card company and see if they can shed any light on the issue. As Candace said, you will get a written explanation of the denial; but if you’re like me, you want to know what’s happening sooner than that 7-10 days.

If you go to a page for an item that has FlexPay, and click on the word FlexPays, it says:
"FlexPay orders may be subject to credit verification by HSN and we may review the credit report. You may contact our HSN Credit Department to see if a credit report was requested and the name and address of the credit reporting agency that conducted the report (if applicable)."

I ordered two Apple mini’s last year on Flexpay. They charged my card for 89.99 six times for one and 89.99 for five times on the other. My card was changed due to the data breach at Target or Home Depot. I never received any calls or requests regarding the 89.99. I tried to place an order via Flexpay for this Christmas and was told their was a problem and to call customer service. I contacted them immediately and was told that I owed 89.99. I told them I had never been contacted about it but had to contact their collections people on Monday. I did that first thing this morning and paid the final 89.99. It turns out the credit card company had issued a new card with same number but different CVV. So the person runs the card and gets authorization. Then she tells me to call HSN and let them know that I had a confirmation number and they would release the pending order. I called and spoke with Ed at HSN and explained the situation just as I did above and he tells me to call the collections people. I told him I had already called them and he placed me on hold and said that he would speak to a manager about what to do. Then he comes back and says that the manager says I will get a letter in 7-10 business days. I said do you not realize that this will be too late for ordering for Christmas? He says I do but that is the way it is. I told him if that is how it is I will just buy elsewhere. My credit score is 715 so I can’t imagine it being that so basically they are punishing me because they screwed up and never contacted me. Why would I pay 89.99 11 times and not do the other 89.99? Without the flexpay, I can get the same or better prices at Costco or Walmart/Amazon. Stupid way to lose business if you ask me.

HSN sucks I will never buy anything again from them. They mark up prices 100% and deny flex pay when I have plenty of credit on my card. So order canceled now scramble to rebuy the gift. Good job HSN

Has it occured to those who were denied that it more than likely is a credit card issue and not HSN? You’re probably over your limit with your credit card because of the high price on the items.

i ordered my first item on flexpay and while money was taken out or pending in my account i got an email denying me for flex pay and that my order was canceled!!! WTF! not to mention i was given a number to call the flexpay management and after waiting literally 30 mins to talk to someone i was told they couldnt give me any information including why my order was canceled!
-
They canceled an order for my daughter for xmas??? Her very first laptop! My point is why do they deduct the payment from your account??? Say it is yours??? Get your first payment and hopes up and even send email conformation?? Then later?? Send a email canceling order????? That is not right??? Make the damm decision before deducting money?? This way we dont waste time with this and find other options???? That is not acceptable. Just damm wrong….
-
Same exact thing just happened to me!! I’m so fustrated!! I ordered a laptop & was so happy. Then an hour later got an email that said my order was cancelled. I sat on hold with customer service for 42 minutes just to be told "I’m sorry, you’ll get a letter." Really?!? Why can’t you tell me why my credit/debit card was denied when I had MORE than enough for the first flex payment??? If there are certain cards that are denied, you should state that somewhere & claim why!! That would save good paying customers the headaches & disappointment of getting denied for an unknown reason!! And I don’t want to receive the same standard response others have received on here "I’m sorry, maybe you won’t be rejected for flex pay in the future…" I don’t understand why flex pay was denied NOW for something I hoping to receive before Christmas. You’re business is completely misleading!!

This literally jut happened to me, i was never an HSN customer, but a friend of mine said that she shopd no where else. I ordered my son and daughter a laptop and a smart tv, says felx pay eligible..was so exicted to get it in time for xmas only to get an email the next morning that my order was canceled…my money is still not credited to my account, which they take immediately…
What are the guidelines and why do people get turned down. You dont have my social, cant be for credit, and even that would have passed for the amount requested. I am just very uypset as this was a gift for my son and daughter..now that money is still tied up and my budget is tight..REALLY sux, they shoudl let you know before you take the money

So far I have never been denied using Flex Pay.But if I am reading the information correctly I understand it to mean that you must have enough credit remaining free on the card you are using to cover the full price of the item you are ordering.I dont think they ship a Flex Pay item if the card can only cover the first payment. What happens when the next payments are due if the customer hasn’t paid down the card enough to cover the payment.I would guess it is based on the status of the card at the time the order is placed. If I order a $500 item and have $2000 free to charge on my card then it wouldnt be an issue but if I only have $550 free on the card I doubt they would ship.
Flex Pay is great simply because you don’t get charged the whole amount up front. But if you have a $3000 credit limit on the card then you can’t charge items that go over that amount just because you choose Flex Pay.Maybe someone can clear it up a bit better or correct me if I am stating wrongly.
-
I don’t think when you choose flex pay that they check to see of you have the entire amount in available credit. I know that I have used flex pay and not had enough available credit to pay for the entire amount of the item. That’s the reason I used the flex pay in the first place.

The exact same thing happened to me today. I have ordered from HSN on several occasions and never missed a payment or had any issues. I previously purchased a Dell computer and other items. I ordered a laptop this evening as a christmas gift, but when I submitted my order a message appeared in red that this type of payment can’t be used with flex pay, but how is that when it’s the same card that is on file at HSN that I have always used. I called customer service and she did not care and could not tell me why this was happening. She basically just wanted me to get off the phone after I refused to allow her to process my card for the total amount. I can’t believe this is how they treat loyal customers. How rude.I refuse to spend money with a company that doesn’t value my loyalty.

Go to QVC ! This company sucks THIEVES AND LIARS!!!!

Well at least now I feel better and on good company. I have been a customer of HSN forever. Always used flexpay, always paid on time and always had the full amount of what I was purchasing in my account yet I buy a laptop as a Christmas present to myself and after my money is gone, after I’m all excited because I only paid .99 cents to get my computer before the holiday. I’M DENIED! Well Merry Christmas to me. If I would have been denied right there and then I would have just bought the darn thing outright. That’s okay, I’m going to stay in the holiday spirit as all you other fine folks should do and oh yeah by the way shop QVC. Thank you and Merry Christmas
