Usindg Anna Griffin Mix and Match embossing folders with the Gemini Machine from Crafter’s Companion

Yep, rec’d my Gemini today, unpacked it and reading the manual now, it’s thick, but that’s because it’s in 4 languages, the English won’t take you long to read, they outlined the usual sandwiches you’ll need, etc. Had pictures of the different plates, etc… pretty easy to follow I’m sure.

One thing they didn’t cover, but won’t be a big deal for me, was the machine can only run ‘continuously’ for 60 minutes, then has to rest for 25 minutes. I doubt I would ever want to cut or emboss for that long at one time anyway…. but good to know.

Sara said that a paper that comes with the Gemini will tell you how to make the various sandwiches for the different materials. The different plates are used for different materials. Watch that you never use two black mats in the same sandwich, and never have a soft black mat on the top or bottom as they can get caught in the rollers. It should be in the middle somewhere.

The sandwich for the AG Mix and Match  folders with the Gemini is the white plate and the metal plate.  She just used those two, ran it thru once and it was done. 

  I think for all the embossing folder which should be any brand she was just using the white plate and the pink one.   On the dies she was using the white plate, the magnetic mat and the pink.  That one was where she put on a whole bunch of different media with the dies,  felt, balsa, glitter, material, etc.   I think because the rollers are metal and the pressure is evenly distributed you can cut anything or emboss anything as thick as the M & Ms and thin as the thinnist dies.

She didn’t always say what her sandwhich was but I just rewatched that recording where she did the mix and match and all the die media and I just tried to watch what she was using.  But she definitely talked about and showed the best sandwhich for the M & M was just the white plate and the metal plate because it is the thinnist plate.  That was one of the reasons why I bought it was because I have all the mix and match folders.    

Someone on this forum mentioned how easy it looked when Anna did it with the cuttlebug (which I have) but if you go back and look really closely at those videos of her hands cranking those folders thru, you can actually see she is really using a lot of pressure in her fingers and hands trying to hold the machine down and crank that thickness thru the machine.

I always record every craft show so that when I buy something I can go back for ever and look at the full presentations to see how it was demonstrated and how to use it.

I don’t go to many of the social media places either, mostly crafting ones, Anna Griffin and Crafter’s Companion are two of the sites I enjoy watching vids or reading their blogs…. would keep a look out tho for a demo vid under Crafter’s Companion here on HSN tho, Anna Griffin often has videos she links with demos for her products, so many Sara will have some uploaded here in the future as well, especially for the Gemini….. I believe several people stated today that they were starting to finally ship out, can only hope that all us that ordered get notices soon, in the next day or so.

Several threads have been opened to discuss the “packaging” status and lots of fingers are crossed.

Sara demonstrated the AG Mix and Match folders a couple of times, looked pretty simple and they came out very nice.

I can’t link it but the Crafter’s Companion website has a demo vid under the Tutorials and I’m sure Sara mentioned they’d have info on most of the social media sites, heard her say Pinterest more than once. Just looking under Gemini and YT will probably find you tons as this machine arrives to all of us… hopefully very soon.
