Scanning in a sewing pattern piece with my ScannCut

Hi all,

I have done a test to see if I can scan in a manufactured pattern piece used for cutting out a hat that I will make for myself hopefully sometime this winter.

Here is a picture of what the hat will look like when finished. This picture is not the best but hopefully will give an idea.

I wanted to post several up several of the pictures in but when I really looked at them I felt I should not due to the name of the manufacturing company logo. Therefore I will only post pictures of what it looked liked after I scanned it in to my scanncut.

This is how my pattern piece looked after it was scanned in. I will tell you this: My scanncut will not scan in the 12×24 mat. With that said I used my scanncut photo mat 12×12 to scan this piece in. You can get that mat separately and it is used to scan in photoes or designs that you have created yourself or what you have printed out from your home printer. With that said I can cut designs with the 12×24 mat. I can make them the full 12×24 size or make them smaller like any of the other 12×12 mat and resize the design.

Here is the picture of the pattern piece the band of the hat.

Once the pattern piece is scanned in you will have to manipulate to have it cut out as one piece.

Here is what it will look like once you have unified the wordage and the little notch areas.

or at best remove all the writing by deleting it out one by one. will take awhile to do so I did not do it as this is just an example as what can be done.

with all this said and shown.  I have not done a test cut of this as of yet. I am going to try it out on a larger piece of card stock for test purposes only. I will more then likely not cut out this hat using my scanncut because the pieces are really to big for my mats. However I can cut out the crown of the hat lining because that is smaller and should work ok.

Here is how it looks once it is ready to cut. I should be able to just cut out around the pattern using fabric. It should just cut out the  rectangle and not cut out the wordage.

Well we will see as I will try it out on paper first.  this is just an experiment for me. I wanted to just show what can be a possibility with the scan n cut.

You can cut fabric of smaller size patterns like doll cloths and or make your own patterns. I would also think you could make a newborn baby outfit with scanning in that pattern.

Just to give an idea here of what can be done with the Scanncut.
