Cricut Explore Air
I own an older version of Cricut. I have never been able to use it as the filters on my laptop prevent the communication with the Cricut. Am I going to run into the same problem with this newer version? Would love to own it, but am hesitant.

I wouldn’t recommend buying this die cutter. If you have had problems with Cricut CraftRoom, a hybrid of offline/online software, you might have problems with Design Space as well. Design Space is internet based only software. The wonderful thing about all the older versions of Cricut, except for the Mini, was the fact that you could use them as standalone machines. You didn’t need to use the software if you couldn’t or didn’t want to, just pop a cartridge in and you could cut away. The Explore only works with Design Space, so if Design Space is not working either on your end or the browsers end or Cricuts servers, you cannot use the Explore, you are dead in the water, you cannot just pop a cartridge in and cut away. There are many more machines that does not limit you the way the Explore does. The SNC2 is an online/offline/standalone machine. The Cameo is an offline machine as is the Janome Artistic Edge. I have the SNC2, the Cameo, the Janome and the Explore and I use all of them except for the Explore. I don’t like having to jump through a lot of hoops just to cut.
