Cricut explore air blades confused??
Hello,
i purchased the gold explore air. I went to buy new blades to have on hand. There are item # 331-659 and #100-9065 and it sounds like both can be used but they don’t look the same. I can’t get my housing open to look and see what my blade looks like so thought I would ask for help from all you smart people!
Then I just need to remember to get hubby to use some muscles and open the housing so I can change it when I need too! It does just twist apart, right? Can you tell I am a newbie, lol.
Thanks!

Hi GrammaS, with the cricut opened and looking at the housing assembly that holds the pens and blades you should see a grey lever marked A(this holds the pen assembly) and a grey lever marked B(this holds the blade assembly). When you want to change your blade you will open the grey lever marked B to the right, this will allow you to remove the gold blade holder. You will just pull the old blade out of the hole in the bottom and replace with the new blade, a magnet inside the housing holds the blades in place. No muscle required, it’s really easy. Hope this helps. You shouldn’t have to worry about replacing them for awhile, but when you do, you should look for the german carbide blades that they make for the cricut explore, they are much better that the blades for the old cricuts.

Thank you Possum29. I went and tried to get the blade out and boy was that easy! I feel stupid after twisting it over and over, lol. Will search online for the carbide blades now. My blade came with a nick feeling on the tip and it rips all the card stock we attempt to cut.

Thank you for posting this question – I was wondering about new blades also. Another note on paper is that all paper is not created equal. Some paper I have always rips when I try to cut it while other paper cuts like a champ. I will try Possum29’s recommendation about changing the setting.
