CRAFTERS CLUB
Let’s start a thread for all crafters or those who want to be crafters. I am an avid crafter and can try to answer questions anyone might have about crafting. I can always use help on crafting ideas I want to try or have not done before. I’m sure we have some CRAFTERS out there that would like to chat and exchange ideas about crafting.

Hello PyschoMom! Great idea for thread, and just in time for the 24 hour craft event. I’m hoping they will have a good variety of crafting kits and supplies. While I love scrapbooking and card making, I also like to try out any new craft. The Brit & Co line looks interesting, but there aren’t many reviews yet to tell if it’s worth the money.
I just finished a latch hook rug for my son (he asked for it, isn’t that sweet!) so I need to get started on something new. I have a closet full of projects just waiting for me! What are you working on now?

Hi PyschoMom, I am into scrapbooking and love creating memory books. I am always looking for materials to use and love bargain hunting to find what I need to create what I want. I recently ventured into sewing nothing fancy just basics. I am drawn to card making after watching all of the presentations appears that many of the processes from scrapbooking applies.

Psychomom, Great . I have several box’s of photos that my parents give me after their divorce. I have put them away not wanting to revisit what was but im now wanting to create and preserve them.
Also I am told that I live distracted lol, so to focus and finish this will be a triumph for me. I need to look into the ways that this can be done and share with others.
This is a great idea for a thread. Thank you for starting it.

Hello! What a great idea! I have been getting back into card making and I am collecting kits. It’s always great to get others’ opinions and ideas to help come up with great projects

I’ve been a avid crafter since my Grandmother first showed me how to embroider and crochet at the age of 10. The only thing I don’t do is knit. I love to sew, do most any needlework, I paint on just about anything that doesn’t move and a few things that did move…I scrapbook, do stamping…and if I don’t do it anymore, I probably at least tried it. I have a craft room in my home that is filled to the top with all sorts of supplies so that I can do what ever strikes me at the time….or I can produce a gift quickly. I even make jewelry with semi precious stones. My items, in all mediums, have competed in competitions…won prizes, and been donated to charity events to raise money for great causes. My crafting helped earn money when my kids were growing up. I sold things to businesses wholesale for several years. It was nice because I could craft into the night while everyone else was asleep. There was a thread last year during Craft Month that lots of talented people posted pics of their talent on…hope to see pics here to!
Nice thread PsychoMom!

Cindy819, scorpio55, BEAUTYBOY, Macie412, herndon … I have done everything from sewing, latch hook rugs, embroidery, card making, and a few other miscellaneous things. I am focused on card making now with Anna Griffin’s Cuttlebug and her papers and embellishments. BEAUTYBOY, I hate to tell you, but you will need to stay focused if you want to learn to craft. I have faith in you. I am excited to see pictures of those who have already made things. Anyone who needs help or advice with anything, just post on here and we will try to get you answers. Be sure to watch as much as possible on March 24th. You will probably get so excited about everything you see. I have seen Anna Griffin’s new items and they are relatively easy. Just watch and see what you think you would like to try.

herndon, I think the Brit & Co looks like a great starter project. I’ve looked at the videos and the candles seems to be my favorite. That’s a good place to start. Also, anytime you get the chance to watch a video, do so, and you can get a better grasp on whether you like that project or not. I spend a lot of time watching UTUBE videos on crafting, so pick a craft and search UTUBE for a video and watch as many as you can.

I was an avid crafter until working too many hours a week and luckily now I have another chance to get back to it. My godmother taught me to needlepoint, knit and crochet at age 5. And my creations looked like I was 5. I still have the first cardigan sweater that I knitted for myself. When my kids were growing up we did all sorts of paper crafts and I even remember doing the latch hook rugs in the 80’s. I’ve been considering purchasing a new sewing machine since there are several on flexpay and with free shipping. I would certainly appreciate any recommendations!

ANNA GRIFFIN STAMPS & CARDMAKING
Hi all ~ I decided to try my hand at both of these and have a few questions.
Clear stamping: I purchased AG’s 16 ink pads. I noticed it was very hard to get a good coating of "Gold". Of course that was the first color I tried and was rather disappointed with the depth of color. I cleaned off the stamp and tried the black. Perfect! Is there a trick to this? Also, how do you clean your stamps?
Cardmaking: I purchased a few of AG’s card making kits and the xyron tape wheels. Will this be enough to hold the cards together? If not, what would you suggest?
I look forward to hearing from you experienced crafters, so thank you in advance. I must admit, I’m a bit nervous!

snowcollector … I learned to sew when I was 10. I made my own clothes. I have always had a problems with anxiety and I think even back then it was evident. If you don’t find sewing causing you anxiety, by all means, go for it. There are some great machines out there now. That was not the case when I was sewing. I would like to try sewing again, but I have invested a lot of time and resources into papercrafting. Late in life I found my creativity and know that card making and working paper was for me. I am even learning to draw a little which has always beene a dream of mine. Go with what makes you feel good and put your heart into it. There will be sewing shows on craft day March 24. Please watch all shows on March 24 that you can. Also, tutorials helped me more than anything. Just google crafting and look for a tutorial and watch. You’ll know soon whether it’s for you or not. Do your research to make sure to invest in the right craft for you!

DubuqueRams … Thank you so much for your approval and kind words. You have always been an inspiration to me with your knowledge of everything. One always wants to get approval from someone they admire and respect. Their is scrapbooking kits from Lisa Berson that seems to be the perfect scrapbook for you. You use a picture and write in your own words on a card (supplied with the kit). I don’t have that many pictures, so I have never done any of Lisa Berson’s (Inspired Inc) scrapbooks. I think this would be perfect for you. Look under CRAFTS and go to INSPIRED and look at what Lisa has to offer.

Macie412 … I think your interest in card making should be persued. My favorite is Anna Griffin, but there are many others to choose from. Watch on March 24 as much as you can and you might just find the perfect thing for you. If you have any questions, please ask. I will be watching all day on the 24th. I might nap here and there, but I am DVRing all shows.
-
EVERYONE … I urge everyone to watch as much of Craft Day March 24th. If you are not able to watch, please record for watching later. I still have shows recorded from last year and maybe the year before that I refer back to if I’m not sure about something. You will probably not be able to remember everything, so having something to go back to is a good idea. LET’S GET CRAFTING!!!

Pilateslady … I wrote an answer to your questions earlier and it disappeared. I don’t think it was inappropriate, but I’ll give it another try. In my opinion Anna Griffin products is a good start. You have all you need for now is you have the kit and the tape runner. I use various types of adhesive; too many to list here. The secret to good stamping is to have a light cushion under your work. This helps the stamp to reach every place you inked. Be careful not to ink anywhere you don’t want on your paper. Even a few paper towels could be enough cushion for some stamps. I do not put my paper directly on the cushion area. You need a buffer between the custion area and the paper. Be sure to ink your stamp well and press down on every part of the acrylic block. If you have problems, I will do some stamping and tell you exactly what I used. More to follow, because I think that might be the reason the post was taken off.

PyschoMom, thank you for starting this Crafters Club. Years ago there was one and we all met to discuss and learn new ideas for crafting. I have been a crafter all of my life. I am showing my age when I tell you I loved the little pot holder kits you could get at Woolworths or TG&Y ! You just strung the multi colored loops on the loom and made any color ! I started sewing when I was a teenager and made my own clothes. As an adult I sewed for my daughters and grandchildren. I learned to embroidery as a child , crossstitch and I love to crochet ! I buy alot of scrapbooking kits but I am afraid I havent done much of it lately ! This club could be my motivation to get going with all of those photos ! So, thank you for doing this !!
