Hope that someone can answer this question. I purchased Anna Griffin’s Flowerpot Decoupage Kit and made a Mother’s Day card that came out beautiful. Unfortunately, a few days later, the flowerpot and flowers that were attached to an embossed layer (Anna’s metallic paper), fell off. The foam adhesive tabs had lost their stickiness. They worked fine holding together the flower layers, but not for adhering the pot or flowers to the base. Someone who reviewed the product made mention of the same problem.

Do you think that it was a bad batch of foam tabs or do I need a stronger adhesive? In Anna’s demo, she curved the flowerpot to look 3-dimensional. So, I assumed that I would need a foam tab to hold the curved edges down. And, her card samples showed the flowerpots on embossed layers. Any recommendations would be appreciated. :smileyfrustrated:

So I still have some questions on my post from a few days ago.

And now another…

Ink. I’m confused about types of ink pads…some mention "chalk" (huh?) and others different stuff.

Anyone have any specific inks they use? How’s about an item number?

Soooooo…Crafter’s, I have a question.

One of these days, I’m going to start doing some card making (once I get the disaster of paperwork in the home office cleaned up…uh huh, sure, right…maybe I’ll just move on to the dining room!)

A couple questions.

Stamps…so there are the old school rubber/ wooden block type and then these clear silicone ones? But you have to stick those silicone ones onto something to use them? And are they sticky…forever?

Inking the stamps…so it looks like you take the pad and tap it onto the stamp? Then how do you clean the stamps? And does it matter which brand/of ink pad you use?

Adhesives…if I want to layer different cuts/shapes of paper, how do I attach them together? With one of those little tape dispensers? Liquid type glue? Elmer’s?!?

Total novice but I have been amazed and amused watching some of the craft events in the past and thought it might be fun to make up some cards for friends and family. I like seeing Suzanne as she truly seems enthusiastic about crafting (and football!)

OH…and my penmanship is garbage so want to try to figure out a way to make up a few set sized inserts, on the computer, that I can alter the message, font and color…and then print out, cut and glue inside the card.

Thoughts? Product recommendations?

  Pipman:  I do not know you or PsychoMom well but I do understand what you two are going thru.  Lost my mom in 2003 and my dad in 2013.  I pray for both of you to adjust to these losses.

   And remember whoever you lost will always be with you in your hearts.  

  And there will be little special things to remind you of them…like maybe a butterfly flitting by…maybe that was their favorite color, or a rose or tulip that comes up where you least expect it.  They are looking out for you.

I wanted to give an update here. I have not been around too much and admittedly haven’t looked at my PM’s.

I had a message from our PyschoMom as to why she has not been around (now going on about 3 weeks?) She had a death in her family and has been just devastated…she did ask me to let you know why she’s not been around. I’m not sure if folks knew but from the last postings in the Crafters Club, it doesn’t appear so.

She said that she will be back, eventually, but has been grieving over this loss.

Do a bing or google search for How to make a birthday card using hp printer.

When you get the list page look for Hp creations and crafts click on that it will tell you to do a free download.

Once you do you can then use the program. You can print out cards and calenders etc for free using your word program right from your computer. It also gives you a selection of card folds.

They also offer snapfish but I think it is different from the hp program.

I hope someone can help me. I would like to learn how to make greeting cards Ihave a HP office jet printer. what else do I need for this task. THANK YOU!

Does anyone know of a way to protect holographic paper from scratches on a bookcover? I am making travel books. Of course my husband picks the one thing I have trouble with. I can put a piece of acetate over it but I would prefer a type of finish. The mod podge I have says it takes 4 weeks to cure. We are leaving May 9th so I need something that will cure fast and can take a lot of wear. Needs to be clear and able to withstand hot and humid weather too.

I think I made my pictures to big so had to do this second post. I could not type in the picture one.

These two pictures are of my green tote back and front. I think if I do this again I will let the scan n cut cut the letters as it would like too. The word Gemini. It wanted to cut it out as a stencil  and now that I look at it. I realize that the green background of the bag would have made the word stand out much better.

Like I said I really do not have much in the way of add on bling. I do have a bedazzler and I used that and added in some of it press on rhinestones. I think I really like the pearl in the twins hand. I really like the size that all the designs cut out to.

I like a lot of detail to a fault. If I had fabric markers I would have detailed in the hair line and gave each twin an eye and a mouth. Maybe put some cloths on them lololo. I do not know.

It is done and good enough to hawl in groceries.

Does anyone know what is happening with Cricut????  I have been standing by to get the explore air on five flexpay deal and it looks like there is a newer one I do not want to miss it.  I have put off getting a die cutter or embosser for so long is this thing really all that you need.  Thanks to anyone with any info just soooo much to know :)!

I just wanted to add this information. I just measured my zodiac designs to see what I am using.

My bag is 13’x13"

My zodiac design is 6.5"x6.5" however the largest I can go is 10.67"x11.52" now this design is within the designs included in the scan n cut. I can go down small to under an inch.

The highest the letters can go is 9.8" high and you cannot space them out. With the design set to the smallest and under the 9.8" you can space them out. The smallest of size is 0.3 you can then space them out to 2.23" wide.

My stars will be 2"x2". I am still working on my lettering the word Gemini. I have not decided how big it will be but it will be small enough to fit within the bag and underneath the twins.

Just wanted to give an idea of the sizes you can reach within the designs that come with the scan n cut.

I am still working on it and hope to have the tote finished today. About pictures is there a place here that I can just upload one or do I need to have photo bucket or flickr? I do not have an account with either of those.

I do believe I posted pictures in Darlene Cahills blog last year but I am not sure if I just uploaded them to her blog or sent them along to her to upload in her blog. I cannot remember. If I can just upload a picture here without photo bucket or flickr then I will. I think I see where I can do it.

As for the brother scan n cut yes I do like it very much. Yes watching Julie Fie-Fan Balzer use it is incrediable. I have watched it several times myself. I have seen this machine in the past and wanted one. I am glad I waited and got the one with 840 designs. Plus 50 designs on a cd, and the cut me up book.plus all they offer here on hsn with the one they are selling. I did pay more then the hsn price. However that one is pretty good in price and the value back is excellent.

They do have a rhinestone collection that can be purchased. I do not have that as of yet. Plus you can buy some type of glitter paper and leather etc. I do not have any of that as of yet.

What I really like about it is that you do not have to buy dies to add to this machine. It is all right in the machine and via usb thumb drive you can add more. If you make your own then you have to use the scan n cut canvas which is a free program to convert your designs to download into the scan n cut.

Even though I have had this since Feburary of this year I am still learning it . I did some cuts right out of the box without reading the instruction book. The came our very nice. I just used printer paper to see how it would do.

What I also like about it for cutting fabric is the cuts are nice and clean no ragged or frayed edges.

Well I will see if I can post up some pictures for you of my tote. Like I said I am just testing it out and see how large I can get the designs. The can cut out pretty large. From as small as you need to as large as the 12×12 mat will allow. I will check my measurements and let you know how large my pieces are for this project.
